Melksham would be a possibility

Was he a travelling emergency this weekend as I can't recall his name being mentioned at Casey

Assume so. Both he and Mitch Brown didn’t play for Casey.

Shouldn't get suspended but probably will due to the outcomes vs action nature of the system. Be interesting to see what Ryan gets considering Bowey played out the game.

Agree with your changes and if not suspended Chandler will probably come out anyway.

Edit: Laurie a chance if they decide to go with a hff/mid replacement rather than pure mid.

They look at the result which was a badly concussed player. With the duty of care you’re assumed to be guilty, rightly or wrongly

It seemed that way initially but I think once he pins he has a duty of care to not slam his head into the ground.  I’m happy to be wrong on this one and you might be right as I think it was similar to Riolis early in the season.

Dunstan won't be replacing Harmes I don't think as he didn't finish the game at Arden St and had ice on his quad. Shame for him as he was the logical replacement, but I reckon' Bedford might be the one.

Chandler could well be in trouble as that’s the system. He was good in his endeavour today and showed his worth finally. Just might become a player yet

Chandler is a certainty to get suspended.

Player was concussed - check,

Player who gets suspended isn’t a name player - check.

That’s the AFL criteria I believe.

Maybe he could change his name to Paddy Franklin before the review?

Damn?! Really?! He’s very unlucky then, tore that VFL game apart today. I’d have had him or Bedford coming in for Harmes. Interested that others have Laurie, I see Harmes playing more rotating Wing for JJ/mid than HF but maybe I’m wrong.

but you still have to do something wrong and chandler didn't. he didn't deliberately drive him into the ground, he didn't tackle improperly. it was just an accident.....a football action

I don’t think Salem is anywhere ready. Didn’t he just start running last week? Still think he is 2 weeks away.

If Dunstan is out then it might be a shuffling of deck chairs to bring a defender or Forward in. My guess :

In : Weid to CHF, Tmac to wing , JJ to mid / HF

Bedford for Chandler as medi sub.

He shouldn't be suspended, but I'm with @DeeSpencer, I think it's highly likely he'll cop a week or two.

We all know the MRO/Tribunal system is overly focused on outcome. Assuming Foley had some level of concussion from the tackle, it's easy for the MRO to call it "dangerous" in hindsight - both arms pinned, head went down fast.

That's not how the system should work, but it just is how it works. It's broken.

My (reliable) mail is that Salem isn't just not ready but had a minor setback. I doubt we'll see him before the bye.

I don’t disagree with you, but every time I think it’s a football act involving a player without a name they get suspended.

Ryan should get a week for his bump on Bowey, but probably won't because Bowey didn't get injured.

McGovern should get two weeks for his elbow into Viney's throat, just like Viney got two weeks for his similar action to Sam Collins last year, but probably won't because no one cares about West Coast this year.

But Chandler will get a week for a clumsy tackle, simply because Foley got concussed.

Ryan already dished out an AFL-approved bump earlier this year, think a firm warm lettuce would be warranted in this instance.

The VFL have a bye next week and Chandler probably won’t actually miss any matches he wasn’t going to miss if he gets one week.

near certainty that chandler will be suspended - anything that causes a concussion seems to automatically mean at least a week's suspension

be interesting to see if they go with this as an opportunity to blood laurie - and for goodness sake, NOT as the sub - or stick with the next rotation 'role player' and 'type' in, which would be dunstan you would assume

personally would love to see laurie debut

IN: laurie, melksham [medi-sub]
OUT: harmes (hamstring), chandler (suspended)

What sort of player is laurie? I must admit 'm not keen on bringing in these young 1st gamers but I had the same thought about Bowey and thought last year oh another young kid that probably will come in and not do much. Turns out I was wrong.

He will get a couple Liam. Bad look.

Chandler was worried for the bloke onfield when he saw the replay. It’s a real tough one, he pinned and rolled and then released too late for his momentum.

Laurie has lovely skills and some tricks, but otherwise I’ve seen nothing from him that looks like an AFL ball winner or pressure player. Not to say he won’t get there, but right now he’s still adapting to winning the ball at VFL level and still a few steps off the pace defensively. He cashed in against North in the second half but that’s light years from proper afl level.

He has cleaner skills, but he’d average 6 touches a game on a flank right now. Bedford might only be 10 touches a game but he’d contribute defensively. Melk, maybe 12 touches and a little overhead ability, iffy defending - still a better package than Laurie.

Bedford for Harmes

Kozzi to play more HF link player

Laurie has great evasive skills and is a good kick. He will kick goals if played as a HFF.

Agree, although I read Goody say Harmes could play next week, which means no change IMO.

Chandler ran down a tackle. Get effort.  If he gets rubbed out for that it's a joke.

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
