Well there's 300 Dees victories to lock in.  Must be a Flag or three in that lot!

Max.        I've said it before but he's the best ruckman I've seen . He's got the lot

Oliver.      First quarter in particular was stupendous - especially as the Hawks were pressing us.

Trac

May.    Despite a couple of rare errors he provided a wall down back

Viney    A strong return. His best consistent form for a while

Bowey.  A few deserved a vote but I have money on Bowey for rising star so....

And with a nod to Hunt, Jordon and Brayshaw.

Agree, his defensive efforts and 1 %ers were huge and still took the game on.

He's having a great year and should retain his spot once Salem returns.

I really feel like we've had great, all round contributions this year across the board but it's amazing to see Oliver, and to a lesser extent the top 4, so far out in front.

It's also interesting to see Fritsch (our leading goal scorer), ANB, Kossi, Sparrow and Petty so low on votes overall. I reckon the BnF (where each player gets points each week) would look a lot different at this stage of the season.

It might, but the AFLCA votes have the same top 5 Demons as Demonland (Petracca, Oliver, Gawn, May, Langdon). That might change a little after this round but I think it'll be similar.

Current AFLCA votes for Melbourne players (to round 6):

31 Oliver

28 Petracca

20 May

18 Gawn

12 Langdon

9 Brayshaw

6 Brown

6 Jackson

5 Viney

4 Weidemann

4 Jordon

4 Harmes

2 Spargo

1 Sparrow

Oh I'd absolutely have those 5 at the top.

I was more noting the difference between a system that scores everyone vs top 3, 5 or 6.

I don't think (for example) Fritsch has been "not-good". I dont think he's bean that much worse than Harmes.

I also think Jackson has probably been much better than Harmes on average as well.

Just the pros and cons of each system. And also the consistent dominance of Oliver, Gawn and Track.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
