I’ve got a bad feeling about this game, which l haven’t had for any other games this year. The talk from David King about us being 50% better than any other team this year, and then having that re-enforced on AFL 360 makes me very uneasy. It would be very easy for us to fall back into old habits. Goody and the coaching staff have a real challenge on their hands tonight….l hope lm wrong but l fear l am not……

MFCSS at its finest. Part of me feels the same, part of me knows we are a good side, and another part of me doesn’t care as we are premiers.

Hopefully not a bad omen but my Dees pedestrian gate fell off its hinges today 😬

Your gate was probably drunk from celebrating another win.

On the subject of omens, my non-footy-loving-or-even-liking son spotted this car this morning…

Clearly a Dees supporter (stickers on the window). But here’s the trippy bit… the number plate is BEM 158. As you can see, I call him Bem, have done pretty much since he was born. And when was he born? Why, on the fifteenth of August (15/8) 😳

If this car belongs to anyone here, he wants to know if you wanna sell the plates. He said he’ll even leave the little Melbz sticker on them.

The problem with being at the top of the table and undefeated is we're bound to lose some time but I can never tell when so each and every game feels like a danger game

Better that it be to the Giants and not certain other sides. Mainly Essendon 🤮

On the subject of omens.. while watching the GF replay yesterday (there were boring games on live) I could not help but notice the score after Angus Brayshaw kicked the goal to put us in front

9:10     64

Such symmetry

Just need to stay focussed, GWS are always hard to beat, Dees by 27 points.!!!

Oh what a (different) feeling

heading in to the game

and knowing

win lose or draw

they will play with skill and determination 🤞🏿

The good part is our players don’t seem to think like that anymore, even if us supporters haven’t quite shaken it!

I have no idea why anyone still has MFCSS. It died for me after the Richmond game last year.

We are playing way below are best.

Things are going to start to click and we might see it tonight.

Maybe it’s a positive omen - that Melbourne will be anything but “pedestrian” tonight.

GWS to me are currently like Port, West Coast and the Dogs, you look at their side on paper and there’s some big names there, but they are playing very poorly at the moment. I didn’t see there rd 1 match against the Swans but against the Tigers and Freo they were ordinary. Yes they can play some good footy in patches but ultimately I think the coach has list the players.

Trac in a polo instead of a warm up top...ominous

Statement for the comp tonight. Giants will attack and not flood back

I’m taking my wife to her first footy match tonight (she’s a pom). Really just want to see us play well, don’t need her to be hooked and become a demon for life but I just want it to be an enjoyable experience for her. And of course it’ll be more enjoyable if we win!!!

I hope no one tells them they'll get smashed if they attack.

Does anyone know if the top of the Ponsford is open?

Well that's curious - Just arrived, and MFC reserved seats on Level 1 of the Olympic are Alcohol Free Areas. Not sure how popular that will be.

As for the game, GWS was the last opponent I saw live last year before we went into lockdown and we were ordinary that day. Hoping to get one back.

Fair few of the players in the polos, so don't reckon Trac in one is a worry.

Haven't heard there's any late changes, anyone else?

I reckon Tracc will be a late withdrawal Dunstan in

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
