Lucifer - sadly I think your prediction is spot on. They wonโ€™t let GW$ play without a ruckman โ€ฆโ€ฆ now if it was someone in different color, say red and blue, or red, white and black, maybe blue and white vertical stripes then it would be โ€œwe must stamp this out and the head is sacrosanct this week - 4 to 6 weeks.โ€

Nah โ€ฆ not even NATO could turn a blind eye to that one . Has to get weeks.

HUDDO (referring to a last-second goal by the bombers): "That was just what the Essendon doctor ordered."ย

That phrase means something different to most of us than it seems to mean to Huddo.

It caused a chuckle at ours.ย

Itโ€™s surprisingly entertaining watching two teams constantly mess up things our players can do in their sleep these days.ย

Can I dare to dream that the Bummers could lose to the Crows at home?

Go the crows.

Essendon ruckman looks a bit like one of the Droogs in Clockwork Orange

That last kick inside 50, they had three to kick to and choose the bomber player.

Abit like watching the women yesterday.

Dam was hoping Adelaide could kick a late goal and win by 2 points. Oh well. That sucks

Oh well .... C'mon the Aints.

Well Well Well Well

Starting to think St Kilda are a chance to feature in prelim final week.

Both clubs had a brief taste in 2018 and 2020 and then had down years.

Why not them?

A goal fest at Marvel in the first half.

Love it @Lucifers Hero

Not a pot at you at all...and isn't there a massive shift in the supporters understanding and THUS the language used by us, because we now have a lens of what 'works' to win football matches consistently. It's also not just our - defense (back 6) running parallel to the strength of our 'defence' is still the system - which I still count as a a Goodwin version of gengenpressing.

Gold Coast well on top here. excellent around the ball but wayward in front of goal

They have a couple of good ruckmen and a decent midfield. King and Membery are good forwards backed up by the smaller likes of Greisham. I think that are definite finalists.

Come on Gold Coast

Yes I only just realised I donโ€™t watch non-Melbourne games to see who wins, but rather to barrack for a side to lose. Huge shame that the Bombers got up, the Hawthorn match is looking promising and hopefully the wheels can fall off the Carlton bandwagon. Iโ€™m not a nice person.ย

  • NON-MFC: Round 02

The compromised AFL fixture will get another test this week with the first lot of teams getting a bye after only two matches. Despite this Round 2 starts off with two cracking games as the Hawks host the Swans at the G on Thursday Night and then on Friday Night the Crows host the Bulldogs at Adelaide Oval. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

The dominant storyline coming out of Round One for Sundayโ€™s clash at Optus Stadium centres on the influence of the big men. The spotlight naturally falls on two elite ruckmen who, five years ago, shared the stage in Melbourneโ€™s memorable premiership triumph.

  • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, weโ€™ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binmanโ€™s Stats Files. Not because it isnโ€™t important; quite the opposite. Itโ€™s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • PREGAME: Fremantle

After a stunning victory over the Saints in the first round of the Season the Demons head over to Perth to take on the Dockers who choked in their first match against the Cats. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourneโ€™s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last yearโ€™s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although itโ€™s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sundayโ€™s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to foolโ€™s gold.

  • POSTGAME: St. Kilda

Never in doubt!!! In Steven Kingโ€™s first game at the helm of the Melbourne Football Club, the Dees outlasted Saints in a wild, momentum-swinging thriller at the MCG, running out 13-point winners.
