But if you've created a great list and environment, and are competing for a flag then you simply back your people to be able to hold onto interstate players.

All well run clubs who are competing would back their environment. 

It becomes more risky if you're a rabble, so more consideration must be taken.

It'd be an interesting case study but I imagine the strong clubs would almost always keep their interstate players (as long as they were entrenched in the best 22) except for some unprecedented scenarios ala the drug saga at West Coast influencing Judd's decision to return home.

I can't be effed doing the research but someone might!

Says he knew from mid year.  Met with them in the bye week.  Pitches from both WA teams.

feeling like he had checked out from then.

They did what they should do, get a player they want for as little as possible.

I say death ride the sook that needed his mummy. Hope he crashes & burns & that he has an unsuccessful career from now on. He knew he was gone last year & clearly played like he had checked out.

Pleased with the trade.  I liked watching Jackson play but I never rated him as a ruckman.  He's not tall enough and the opposition had him largely worked out this year.  His tap work is worse than poor, and as long as his backside points to the ground he'll never be a better ruckman than Darcy.  He desperately needs to improve his marking technique and if he plans on making his name as a Blicavs type player he needs a much bigger tank, and a lot more game sense.

His late third quarter GF effort is greatly appreciated and it's churlish to hold any hard feelings given that he more than paid his dues by helping us win a flag. I hope for his sake he doesn't get overwhelmed by the Perth fish bowl.  We have a great opportunity to further improve our list over the next two drafts now and capitalise on the incredible talent we have in our ranks.

Jackson went home presumably because he was homesick,it's difficult to believe that Bedford wanted to live in GWS .

Well you don’t need to live in the made up area of GWS to play for them. Sydney is a big place & far better than Perth could ever be, what a [censored] WA is. I mean it’s not like the NRL players who change clubs regularly move to whatever area their club is based in. Besides just up the road from their home is the Blue Mountains or areas like Dural, Hawkesbury which have some of the most prestigious & highest priced homes in the country.

Sad that wanted to go but I can’t get the thought out of my mind with the similarity to the Scully situation. Both suffered chronic mild dicky knee syndrome that took the edge from their performances in their last season with us before curiously signing whopper interstate contracts. What’s the bet that like Scully he has a full recovery to his knee next season?

Clearly lack knowledge of Sydney & what is classed as Greater Western Sydney. Some of the best places around & covers Blue Mountains, Camden & nearly down to Wollongong. Yep areas like Blacktown, Penrith are garbage but at least there are mountains & a river you can swim in unlike Melbourne that’s flat, desolate & has a waterway as filthy as the sewage infested Ganges.

Feel the same. Surely there should be a rule against players meeting clubs in season and still in contract. I though there already was?

Would of liked him to be a career Demon with 4 Premiership medallions

Think he’ll be a star of the game.

Rate our recruiters to make it work in our favour.

We should never of had pick 3 in 2019

Will boo him in jest as I find that amusing 

A small part of me hopes he never plays a good game again and gets traded to Tasmania

Tampered competition if you ask me. With the very low power the clubs seem to have over the players, it is unfair that they are permitted all these sort of liberties midway season in which the team was pursuing back to back premierships.

Yep culture is massive & I think Kozzie goes next year, it can’t just be a coincidence about his rumours.

On Munster though the NRL are different when it comes to the cap & he will get money outside of the cap which all clubs have the ability to do. Loads of clubs pay players extra money outside of the cap. The other thing that non NRL followers don’t understand ( same as the bottom, desperate clubs) is that they think they can just offer more money, but in fact an extra $100k a year for someone like Munster to leave would of meant he probably earns less than what he would staying at the Storm (sounds backwards, but isn’t). If you play Origin you get $30k per game so play all 3 & that’s an extra $90k a year.Playing in the World cup he will get $20k per game & we will win it so that’s 6 games, so an additional $120k, plus the $50k bonus for winning. Munster would get $260k for those extra games, plus trip overseas, the free everything & benefits that go with it. Big difference between players in top 8 teams making Origin & World Cup squads, so you may get higher base wage at a lower team, but few players from low teams make rep squads, so they lose financially in the long run.

If you can’t relate, pity you 😔

Why not also live your own life & make your own choices like all adults should. It doesn’t mean you shouldn’t love your family or friends, but jeez you don’t need to live near them or even in the same state as them. I love my parents, but I have my own life, live in another state, as do my brothers & my own son lives in another state to me.

    UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

    Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft.     Demonland Trackwatchers ventured down to Gosch's Paddock for the final week of training for the 1st to 4th Years until they are joined by the rest of the senior squad for Preseason Training Camp in Mansfield next week.     A couple of Demonland Trackwatchers braved the rain and headed down to Gosch's paddock to bring you their observations from the second day of Preseason training for the 1st to 4th Year players.
