Farewell Luke Jackson

Saw Mac Andrew is debuting for GC this week. It still pisses me off that we got robbed of our academy player cause the AFL decided to change the rules the one year we finally had a decent prospect... after years of other clubs reaping the rewards.

There’s a whole other thread about this.

Probably worked out for the best, we picked up JvR and Howes, when otherwise would have had to use the point to match GC early bid. This year has many more talls in the top 30, so if Luke Jackson can get us 2-3 picks in that range we might be better off hunting for a long term replacement this year than last.

God i hope he stays.

Just see him as someone who is ready to absolutely explode as a player and could really make a huge difference in our push for multiple premierships!

But would you be happy if he stays for 2 years and it all starts again?

If he signed a long term contract I would be very happy.

If he is likely to want to go in say 2 years, I would try and do a deal now.

I still think we could solve key forward and ruck issues for a good trade.

A Freo key forward and ruck and a top key forward in the draft, could all be doable.

I think we're more likely to win a premiership with Luke Jackson in the team than we are with the likely compensation we'd get for him, and it's 2 more years of him settling into melbourne.

I think the club would have plans ready if he left after the 2 years as well so

I'm not too sure who the dockers have as a key forward that would give us the immediate help we need down there?

If Jacko did sign on for 2 years, it would at least give us 2 years to find and blood a replacement and it would give Freo 2 years to come up with suitable trades and/or picks.

Relevant to Jackson as if he leaves Andrew would have become our second ruck with a similar athletic profile to Luke - and now the ruck stocks might be extremely thin unless we get a B grade backup this trade period.

Oh sure, just thought you’d be interested if you’d missed it.

Well for example Treacy, Meek and the pick to get Cadman would be reasonable. 2 big Victorian forwards and a ruck.

And I had found peace with it after several long therapy sessions at the pub. No need to open that old chestnut again.

And we can make a gentleman’s agreement between all parties to get it done within that time frame. I hope LJ is considering that as a viable option as well if things don’t work out this trade period.

You gotta think it can't be good for team morale and cohesion when your playing 3 guys who know they are getting shopped around to potentially land a kid.

Amazes me the media aren't making more of that. I'd be livid if I was playing for them - there's no internal player backing from the coaches/footy department.

I have never been more confident he will stay then.

BT also can’t identify players and often call them the wrong name. I’m pretty sure he has early onset dementia

Get whatever we can for him.

I’d love a swap for Young.

Andy Brayshaw 4 Jackson would be a fair straight swap the kids a Jet. No draft picks needed......I know its not going to happen but that would be fair.

Our Serong but Andy Brayshaw would be the dream scenario

We’d have to throw in a first rounder. Andrew Brayshaw is a far better player than Jackson at this stage and is still only 22 himself.
