Artisan bench-top installer. Make of it what you will.

Translation:-  After Dees learning on Sat night the lack of ruck depth we have, we circled back to Jacko and upped the offer (which is what Jacko’s manager has been working towards)

Now all back on track and getting close to inking and announcing new 2 or 3 year deal?

If a stone benchtop is all that it is going to take, bloody hell, I'm sure Demonland can take up a collection and pay for that. Come on (in Lleyton Hewitt parlance) get it done.😅

Thank you LH, I hope you’ve been well. Firstly, I never joke. Secondly, Mel returned to the open house with a granite bench top supplier who had a tape measure and quote booklet. The plot, as they say, thickens.

I'm delighted that our resident trade whisperer is on the case now. Finally someone who knows what they're talking about in this thread.

I look forward to well sourced, high quality updates from here on

I can't believe this topic has been relegated to the 2nd page.

Have we all given up any hope of retaining Dogga. There must be someone out there with some info.

Mel and Steve watch: Mel and Steve have been spotted looking through an open house in Malvern. According to the anonymous source, Steve loved the double garage but Mel wasn’t keen on the copper bench tops in the kitchen (lemon is the key to cleaning them Mel). Make of this what you will.

Malvern Springs  Western Australia?

If Jackson decides to move on, I reckon we could get Brodie Grundy on the cheap… ask the filth to pay a huge chunk of his contract too.

Intriguing scenario

Isn’t he just two years into a mega-contract? How does he wriggle out of that one? And if he can, what are the point of these mega-contracts anyway?

Theory is it is would be a mutual decision. Pies look great without him and he is occupying a fair bit of their salary cap. Upside for him is arguably limited although the chance to team up with an ageing Gawn in a side deep in a premiership window is attractive.  Dees could probably get away with paying him less than we would Jacko (with Collingwood’s help) and we’d still end up with draft capital from the Jackson transaction.

Everyone knows lead times for renovation materials have blown out to 9 months. Won't happen, he's gawn

I disagree, he would be a perfect fit for them.

Similar to our tall set up...

English = Gawn

Lobb = Jackson

Naughton = BBB

Marra= Fritta

Bruce = tmac/weid

No!!!

You’re overestimating the power Freo have in this deal. Brodie/Acres plus picks (which wouldn’t be top 10 unless they trade players) and Melbourne have the right to force him into the pre-season draft where West Coast will have an early pick.

If his service to the club had been 5+ yrs (like the Dangerfield scenario) I’m sure the club would support him more to make sure he gets to his club of choice but not for a guy just out of his rookie contract when there is another suitor in his hometown.

Remember Cerra last yr when Freo suggested that Luke Jackson was the only way that trade would get done (and we quickly pulled out)? Expect a similarly bullish demand from us this time around.

Agree totally.Melbourne hold all the cards

Well argued opinion piece here from Jake Niall on the Jackson and Brayshaw situations.

Really solid take.

Brayshaw has been outstanding for us this season. His intercept-marking across half back has gone next-level, to the point where Lever must be getting genuinely itchy out there (in the best possible way). Losing Gus would be a bigger gut-punch for me than LJ.

But it would be great to keep things as they are for a couple more years.

How good would it be for both boys to announce to their team mates in the rooms before the game they are staying?

Yep great article. I’m sure it must have been mentioned as this thread is a long one, but maybe freo are just trying to get us to overpay so they can shake Brayshaw loose.

given that dogga and gus share the same manager, my belief is that we won't hear about the latter before the former, unless they're announced simultaneously...ideally in the lead-up to the game vs freo

How good would that be!

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

    Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

    Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

    The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

    Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

    The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

    It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
