There's certainly suggestions they're key reasons why Chloe Molloy, Steph Chiocci, and Jamie Lambert left their AFLW program.  Their entire team went to the football department last year after DeGropey's Bali incident and basically stated that unless the club does something to address apparently misogyny in the club, they'll have a serious problem retaining several of their women players.  Those three walked.  I can't say I blame them.

Was Collingwood's "Do Better" report solely about indigenous issues or did it address other matters such as misogyny?

The girls will be better off than the mens's side as the squad is much smaller, I think 30 in total.

Nice bonus to their pay. I wonder if it counts towards tax or its classed as a windfall as with any other prize competition?

Just Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples related issues.

Their report on misogyny is still being worked on.

Epic report - current draft has 3,232 chapters.

250k divided equally between 44 AFLM players = $5,681.00 ea

250k divided equally between 31 AFLW players = $8,064.00 ea

500k to the club but effects the soft-cap.

A good breakdown I reckon

Assume the recently departed players still get paid, a nice little exit bonus for them.

How does it affect the soft cap? I thought the soft cap related to expenditure, not revenue. Do you mean that depending on where we spend it, it could affect the soft cap? If so, surely there are ways to make use of it without the soft cap being affected?

The original article I read said that it did affect the soft cap but the article today is on the afl.com.au side said that it is exempt from it.  Huzzah!

DEE fence is bang on, the silence is deafening. MFC wins the trophy and 1mil for being the most consistent club across AFL and AFLW and radio silence from AFL.com. Instead an article about how important top ten picks are (duh!). MFC has been the benchmark across all three competitions AFL, AFLW, VFL for three years now. We’ve won 3 premierships (and counting with AFLW23 still to play) 4 GFs, finished in the top 4 8 times, made 9 final series and easily been the best club over this period.

But what are they reporting on? A smear campaign against our coach and his family from 2020-21.

What are our real issues?Joel Smith is an [censored] who did coke in season. Clayton Oliver is immature and has some issues, Stephen May is confident and has a big mouth, leading to one stupid fight with his teammates and a statement about CFC that annoyed them (despite being true!). That’s it.

The “do better report”: https://amp.theguardian.com/sport/2021/feb/01/collingwood-afl-clubs-culture-of-structural-racism-condemned-in-scathing-report

Wow what an incredible “culture” led to this years flag, it’s almost like winning premierships is possible even with a team of misbehaving DH’s as long as they are good at football. But no, it’s probably Darcy Moore’s ability to deliver a year 10 level debate speech and Craig MacRae and the Daicos’s being nice guys, I’m sure that’s an impeccable “culcha”.

It’s nice to confirm the bias against us in the AFL media, which was largely under the surface until now. They hate us and will never praise us as a “big club” (within 10k and 16k of Hawthorn and Essendon with a higher average home attendance but never acknowledge that). Time for us to start calling them out often and loudly, or stop listening to and watching their rubbish as Robbo, Warner at the Hun are out for us as are Damo, Cornes and others at AFL.com. Stuff em.

My unwavering sentiments are precisely the same as yours. You pointed out so many things there that mean so much to teams that seem to go out of their way to be clean and yet the process and the system prevents them.

You know i think that is what the problem is. We are the Club that other teams aspire to be like and that annoys them.

It’s appalling isn’t it. Almost everything CFC on that list is a serious crime, the club cleans up for them. There’s a patterns there of seriously disgusting attitudes and behaviour to women also.

They really need to do a lot Better don’t they?

My post wasn't in reference to the "Do Better" report.  But to answer your question, it was solely on the allegations of racism (not just indigenous)

My understanding is that it was on race in general, given Heretia Lumumba is not indigenous, but did lodge a complaint about racism.

Yep, I think you're right KDF.

1 million in prize money for the McClelland trophy compared to the profits of merchandise sales after winning the premiership, more members and potentially more sponsors. Obviously we’ll take it but for me it doesn’t take away from the disappointment of this years final series. This year was a massive fail from the men’s team, even with our injuries we should have beaten the Pies easily in week 1.

Come on, BA. Do we really need to be reminded yet again of our finals losses? And in this thread? Let’s celebrate the winning of the McClelland by our outstanding Club, especially in this dedicated thread.

It’s a recognition of both teams for the season excluding finals… unfortunately other supporters in particular pies ones will always reference the straight sets exit and water down this.. they continue to call our premiership the covid cup , yet our dominance across the 3 finals & playing on neutral grounds & zero home ground advantage is passed over vs them who didn’t leave Melbourne sill for the last 5 games of the season, one can only imagine if the lions win the flag and had the same fixture

By your very own reasoning we don’t need to discuss finals when talking about the McClelland. And you’re right, we don’t, which is why I don’t think this thread is a place to bring up the men’s finals. In particular, bemoaning the losses of such.

I've never heard a single comment like that, nor any denigration of our premiership from any supporters of other clubs at any time.  If anything, they were blown away at just how dominant we were in that 2021 finals series.

Delighted to add the $1m to the kitty but there's something hollow about this given the way both teams went out in straight sets.

Better to go out in straight sets with a million dollars than in straight sets without any money

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
