GO DEMONS!!!!!!!

and the third quarter in the elimination final against Geelong is possibly the best football I have ever seen over a fair lifetime

Mind you, I haven’t seen the replay of the GF third quarter yet

So this is what it feels like to win a flag. I was so jealous of my mum supporting a club through the 50's. Third generation Dee supporter of 66 year and I have never been happier. No tears just sheer elation and joy.

I took time to read the last chapter of the "Red Fox" this morning. The Norm Smith story is sad and when he left he predicted it would be a long time before Melbourne won another flag. He was correct. There has been a lot said about numbers and coincidences so here is another. Norm Smith passed away in 1973 at the age of 57 and we win our first flag in 57 years. Vale the Norm Smith curse

We were on the ropes and ready to crack up half way through the third quarter. Bont was tearing us apart. Keath and Naughton marking everything. Gawn dropping easy marks. Then the most extraordinary 15 minutes of footy I’ve ever seen by us. Absolutely amazing centre clearance work by the tag team beasts of Petracca and Oliver.

There certainly is a lot of luv being spread on here tonight.

I just went to bed to try and spread a bit more love, but apparently I smell like a brewery, and I have ignored her to the last 26 weeks.

So here i am back amongst those who know how to appreciate and celebrate a win for the ages. .

We feel your love

👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 to everything everyone's said.

To all of which, may I add that, aside from first premierships (notably North's 1975 75-point win), drought breakers have been:

2001 - 'Fitzroy' - 26 points

2005 - 'South Melbourne' - 4 points

2016 - 'Footscray' - 22 points

2017 - Richmond - 48 points

2021 - Melbourne - 74 points

Emphatic, with a capital everything.

And to all of those who said they can now die happy (and I'm definitely a D'Land senior cit)...

DON'T!

This really hasn't sunken in yet. 30 years of going to just about every game I could in Melbourne and interstate a few times a year, included the dreaded years when there was lucky to be 15,000 at the 'G and we knew we'd get smashed. We stuck with them, stood by them. Massive shame we cannot be there in person but the feeling is surreal at the moment. I'm a grown man and have been in tears for hours. This forum has been such a great way to stay connected. The best feeling would be to be hugging strangers at the MCG tonight after the siren but we've done the best we possibly can. Enjoy this one everyone!

From your experiences, I fully understand your journey and disappointments, similar to my own and that of so many others. We turned the corner, tonght and the relief is astounding. One game, one result.

I was at the ground. At half time I was alright, and thought we would be ok. The Johannison goal sucked the life out of the crowd around me and it really felt like the game was about to get away from us.

The next few minutes were dire and even when Fritsch got his first of the third term you felt like we were just hanging on.

From there we broke them. It was great to watch.

Well done boys. Thanks Perth for being such awesome hosts.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
