bugger it, I might head down to princes park later for a couple of beers just to get out of the house.

Don’t wear work boots or high viz work wear DD…

Well boys and girls the big day is upon us. Hell yeah. Dreamt that Viney and Jackson poleaxed Libba in a double tackle.
Woke up very calm and confident. Think there’s a lot more ways we when than they do.
Enjoy your day fellow demonlanders wherever ye may be. This is our day, I can feel it. GO Dees

Dreamt last night we are 45 points up at three quarter time.

'88 and 2000 I was just hoping .

This time it's belief based in reality and ability.

Our opponents deserve to be playing in a GF.

Bring it on.

Sounds reasonable to me, I think we can smash them. I’ve put some money on Dees 40+.

Can now reveal under Freedom of information legislation (thank you Premier McGowan) on AFL Grand Final morning. That your Top End correspondents have managed to ‘negotiate’ the WA frontier and have been ‘embedded’ in the Demons campaign here in Perth.

We will endeavour as representatives of demon land to be on our ‘best’ behaviour all day and honour the traditional proprieties but there are no guarantees after the siren🚨!

Just to give you folks back in the demon heartland some local colour.

Former captain Gary Lyon is ensconced in the Crown Casino Towers, a little too rich for us humble folk down here at ground zero in an air b&b.

We have ‘co-mingled’ as much as is possible with the troops and can report team morale is high and the preparation for ‘battle’ is at an absolute optimum.

The locals are ‘abuzz’ with the prospect of a Perth based Grand Final. With a perceptible groundswell of support for the red and the blue.

The local media coverage with Ben Cousins redemption prominent, the Nik Nat and Nat show is in full swing. As expected the eagles and dockers don’t seem to disappear with seemingly acres of column space devoted to their post-season trivia. Just inside the back pages.

Of the local demonland identities?

We are on the lookout for a vintage Ford Mustang on high revs, screaming about the Swan river escarpment. But alas no sightings as yet, besides the public transport infrastructure has improved significantly since our last visit.

When we bravely stood on the terraces at Subiaco to barrack on Robbie Flower resplendent in the Big White V.

Pennant St Dee and Chook are indubitably out there and will be in attendance. Although we are reliably informed DannyZ up early for breakfast  has apparently choked on his porridge.

The last two weeks might have dragged but in reality this season has flown by in these difficult times for a lot of people. It’s extremely difficult not to think about the result later on tonight and there’s a touch of sadness that this is the final game of the year already.

Only because if you take a few deep breaths and just appreciate how good the club has been this season and the joy they’ve given us the last 6 months you might realise you don’t want this feeling to end. Extremely proud of everyone involved at the MFC on their efforts to make a lifelong dream come true by bringing the Cup back home. They’ve given themselves every possible chance to achieve this dream and I believe they are very capable of handling the occasion to make this a reality.

Believe!

Absolutely. Yesterday I watched the Road to the Grand Final video the club put up. So many moments that I’d forgotten along the way. Just the right amount of non-play related footage. Packed MCG. Empty MCG. Jones being chaired off. Tommo’s injury. Brown’s first game. Bowey’s first game. Stuck on the tarmac in Brisbane. The whole picture was painted. I started bawling my eyes out.

I haven’t had anywhere near enough sleep to cope with what’s to come today. My emotions heighten when I’m tired. Wish my tear ducts luck today, they’re going to need it either way I think.

I got to sleep alright last night. My trick was to drink 10 beers

Absolutely churning in my stomach, 88 and 00 wasn’t like this maybe it’s the reality that we are favourites, or maybe age.

So proud of this club, we will have the majority of support, I have handed out countless scarves, tee shirts, hats, flags and jumpers for friends and family to wear at the game or GF parties.  I could have given three times as much away the support for us has been that big in Perth and the requests I received.

The boys have embraced being here and their time out of quarantine has seen Perth people adopt them. I’m still pinching myself for so long from 2004 to 2017 Perth was a place we didn’t win in and we were pitied.

Now we may finally break the drought here, why not, we broke the 12 year finals drought here when we won in round 22 of 2018.

It’s game day and there’s been a lot of pain to get here but despite years of scarring making me believe it would never actually happen (even at halftime in the Prelim) I have woken today thinking it’s time.

I want the boys to win for Jonesy, Nev, Jimmy, RDB, Sean, The Rev, Bails, Robbie, themselves and for those supporters no longer with us. But most of all I want a win for those of us who never gave up and endured the pain of this journey. You have all earned the right to enjoy this, I feel for those of you who through no fault of your own can’t be there, but I hope the boys do it for you and make you proud.

It’s our day let’s go Dees

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The media has performed a complete reversal in its coverage of the Melbourne Football Club over the past month and a half. Having endured intense criticism from all quarters in the press, which continually identified new avenues for scrutiny of every aspect, both on and off the field, and prematurely speculated about the departures of coaches, players, officials, and various employees from a club that lost its first five matches and appeared out of finals contention, the narrative has suddenly shifted to one of unbridled optimism.  The Demons have won five of their last six matches, positioning themselves just one game (and a considerable amount of percentage) outside the top eight at the halfway mark of the season. They still trail the primary contenders and remain far from assured of a finals berth.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.
