I have never seen the footy media so determined to come up with some reason why Melbourne won't win, it's incredible. suggesting the Bulldogs might be more fresh than us, given we've had 1 game in 28 days and they've been to just about every state in that time.

Media haven't suggested Dogs will be more fresh than us, quite the opposite, The suggestion is they will be match hardened and we won't.

Burgess & fitness staff will have a plan in place to ensure hardness is there, we are having a tough hit out & dogs are not as need to recover so can work both ways....

an equally ridiculous suggestion on their part, especially considering they aren't playing a scratch match this weekend.

Dodgy prawns apparently

So who came the raw prawn? 😝

Since we’ve decided to get all trousery and talk of tales of spiked lasagna, orificial expulsions  and what have you, here’s a legendary homegrown example. It’s one that Goody, as a former Crow albeit one not there on that day, would be well aware of. 💨

I agree that the media narrative is tilted towards talking down the Demons and talking up the Doggies.

I don't know. Every media person I've heard venture a tip thus far has picked Melbourne. Keep calm. (Hard, I know.)

Great I’d prefer that everyone thinks the Scragging umpire darlings are favourites

our guys need to worry about only one thing - 100% effort and focus from first bounce to final siren

our best is better than theirs IMO we play our best footy we should win if we don’t they get a look in

In summary:

  1. Maysie's hamstring is "all good",
  2. First thing this morning Troy Chaplin bought coffee for both Goodwin and Yze - aspersions were being cast as to whether this was a Machiavellian coaching takeover coup.

On a lighter note maybe Choco wants to coach another flag and has planned to fix up Goody and Ooze. I would be watching out in tomorrow practice match for any of the emergencies hoping for a position to become vacant.

An old footy coach from VFL days tells the story at Hawthorn, that you never went near Ian Bremner in finals especially if you played in his position. Or the year they beat North to become premiers. On the last Thursday before the granny Kennedy lined the players up in 2 lines, one on one contest with the ball thrown in between to see who came out on top. It was I believe brutal no holds barred. Kennedy's commando's and imagine being paired off with Leigh Mathews....scary

Semi-secret GF preparation is sought ... the footy media has many hangers-on, many mouths to feed, cannot have exclusive access to the MFC to create a story or make one up, no whispers to pounce upon.

Nice, ain't it?

If the Choco Conspiracy Theory is real - and I'm not saying it's not - then security must sweep all training venues for snipers now that Goody and OOze have taken a bait and survived.

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

  • PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: “Then came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.” Today, we’re back in the same place although one difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.

The Demons return to town fresh off a thumping win over the back-to-back wooden spooners, the West Coast Eagles, played in front of a sparse crowd at Marvel Stadium, the same venue that hosted last week's heartbreaking loss.
