So just to keep everyone's minds off their nerves ... "Caligula" was a childhood nickname of the Roman emperor Gaius Caesar. His father was a famous general and he spent his childhood hanging around in army camps around the empire. He used to dress up as a soldier to the delight of the real soldiers, which is where he got his nickname. He grew to hate the nickname, and in turn came to be hated by the Roman public for his severe habits of ducking his head,  "fending off" senators with his elbows, throwing the laurel wreath, and appealing to the high priests for everything.

In a parallel (non-COVID19) universe I'd have been in the MCC queue now for 6-hours and my feet would be aching.

Almost finished the longest day of work ever. Now to find some way of staying busy for next couple of hours. Gotta stay of the drink for a bit or I’ll be blind by half time.

That is the hardest part, covid lockdown, I have done my exercise time, been to the shops, lacking any focus to do any work and need to hold off cracking the first can for a few more hours

In the 1988 season - a successful Prelim Final year, Garry Lyon, number 3, turned 21. 13/9/88, which makes his birth year 1967

so.....

G Lyon was AA 5 times

We have 5 AA's this year.

Gawn  11, Trac  5, Oliver  13  , May  1,  Lever 8.

all of these numbers can be made up via arithetical treatment of 1967, Lyon's birth year.

e.g. 13 = 6+7,  etc....., 11 = 9+1+(7-6)

And the arguable other AA was Salem  -  No.3 (Lyons number) as an aside.

The Gawn, Trac, Oliver, May and Lever numbers, as single integers can be manipulated to equal 36 (just trust me on that, its too lengthy to explain.

'36 is the great RDB's birth year.

Subtract RDB's birth year from G.Lyons birth year (1967-1936)

Gives you 31 (yes, its Olivers number in reverse also)

On a slightly different note, at this time in pretty much every other year this century (i.e. aside from 2000 and 2018, ugh) we'd still be dissecting the year and once the rage has subsided, planning/dreaming for the next year.

This is quite refreshing, and definitely a different feeling to 2018. We're entering this game as favourites (which makes me sick), but at least it's off the back of a really solid, even year where we finally broke through a number of mental barriers, statistics etc. There has been a real momentum and belief that we haven't seen for a very long time.

You're on the right track there Grr-owl, but theres an extra detail as to why it was 'little' boots. Caligula was the son of a famous and beloved general (Germanicus), and used to be known for following him around in camp while on campaign, in little replica soldier's boots. Hence he became known around camp as 'Little Boots', a nickname that continued into his adult life. So not so much an unflattering one, but one that reflects his childhood.
