He's not a natural forward and doesn't have that grunt in him that we need

Much easier said than done but we need a Naughton, King Brothers, McKay - hell even a Larkey type forward 

Best to go to the draft and try scoop something

Jackson, other than looking knackered at the present, has performed admirably as a back up ruckman this year.

However he has yet to show much aptitude as a KPP forward - it may be a matter of time, or maybe it will never come.  That said he worked well with Weed when they played together (limited time and weird year) in 2020.

Yes he has been surprisingly good in the backline this year, but if and when Tomlinson returns and hits form, what would we do with Petty?  Play his as a Casey defender, or let him to continue development up forward?

We haven’t seen Petty play up forward since 2019. What he showed then was pretty good. So far this year he’s played exclusively in defence. I’d like to see him play up forward for a game or two if Tmac and Brown continue to be ordinary.

I think you may have misunderstood my post - not saying at all that petty > tomlinson.

Just saying that Petty has done a sterling job replacing him, but also has a potential good KPP forward rôle up his sleeve.

It was me - pondering Petty - he has done a great job as a back, but I'm still seduced by his time up forward.

He has no trade value so we should stick. Give him another pre-season, hopefully he remains injury free and can do a TMac and surprise us all

I agree with this, I think Melbourne would like to keep him for if nothing else coverage. He would have to consider whether he would feature in the Melbourne line up in 12 months time on a regular basis, assuming he is both fit and showing form. 

Aside from Jackson our forward line is ageing so if he believes in himself I think he can do it. Brown getting into a little form at the pointy end of the season isn’t great for him though. 

Don't give these Bas#$@%# nothing, hang on to him if he wants to stay.

Agree, two years might give him more confidence. We need three tall forwards on our list. Jackson aside.

Decent job by Lewis for the most part to try and drive up the trade value. 

Ship him off to Gold Coast for their second rounder.

Weid can't play with confidence,and can't get confidence when he plays.
