Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Apologies guys, I'm gonna hold fire for now. Only very very sketchy rumours at the moment, really would not be worth posting. If things get any more solid I will post for sure.

Surely that disclaimer is enough for no mud to stick, should this sketchy rumour not eventuate

Compensation-wise, I think a combination of Weid & next year’s 1st rounder in a multi-team trade for Cerra could come close to it.

Cap-wise, Jones would be on a solid wage, and T-Mac is coming out of contract and will not being re-signed on the same outrageous salary. It could be done.

The biggest trouble for me is figuring out where we’d play him? Can’t have too much class though. Might send someone like Harmes out of the 22.

Just for the record, TMac is contracted until 2022 and I had an inkling his salary was pretty high next year..  That doesn't change the essence of your post as the club will find a way to do the deal if that is what they decide.

There is no way that Harmes will be pushed out of that team - he's too good a player

Oops. Not sure why I thought T-Mac was out of contract. Maybe because Weid is.

Anyway, Hibberd & Melksham should be coming out of contract soonish I’d think, and would be due for pay cuts.

Quite right.  Hibberd OOC this year and Melksham OOC next year.

Carlton will have to wait for several more weeks to secure Adam Cerra’s commitment as potential bidder Melbourne makes its premiership charge.

Cerra is in no hurry to make a decision on his future even as he is expected to nominate Carlton after the Grand Final, with the Blues well placed to get him home to Victoria.

The Blues will remain nervous about Melbourne’s intent to pull off a trade heist for Cerra given their wide open premiership window and his close friendship with Demons wingman Ed Langdon.

There is no rush for Cerra to make an official decision. The Blues, with the No.6 draft pick, have the capacity and determination to trade that selection to the Dockers for Cerra.

The trade period starts on October 4, nine days after the September 25 Grand Final.

Carlton also does not have a coach or chief executive, which adds to the uncertainty about the club’s future.

The Demons have no plans to trade Luke Jackson and the Herald Sun understands the contracted key tall is happy to remain at the club that has him under contract until 2022.

So, without a first-round pick, it would seem impossible for the Demons to get a deal done on Cerra.

The Demons would have significant appeal to Cerra if he could get there, but his No.1 priority is remaining to be closer to family and friends and he knows he needs to request a move to a club that can broker that deal.

Adam Cerra has to choose between Carlton and Melbourne.

Cerra remains in Perth and will attend the Dockers’ best-and-fairest as he enjoys his holidays in West Australia.

Jon Ralph spreading chook food for poor Blues fans...

If there's no decision for the next 2 weeks, then we're likely on.

Oh, and why would you join a shambles club without a coach?

agree. he keeps writing articles about Cerra with no insights whatsoever. we all know that MFC don't *currently* have anything or worth pick-wise, but that doesn't mean that we can't get it. [censored].

Does Ralph provide anything?

The amount of nothing articles that circulate the news outlets are soooooo tiresome.

He provided absolutely nothing new in the above. And he has no idea whether or not we can facilitate a trade. Why would he use the word impossible?

How many times do we see a player nominate a club of choice, only to be denied? Rarely if ever.

If we've met with him, the longer he waits to nominate, surely the likelihood of him wanting to come to us goes up given we're still playing.. No?

Ralph is such a facepalm.

No coach or chief  exucutive.....Who at Carlton has actually expressed strong interest in him? The reporting on this subject seems wishful thinking from Carlton affiliated media. Nobody in their right mind would currently choose Carlton over Melbourne.  Will come down to more than money and draft picks....I would say Cerra will select us and then we will get to work to arrange the swaps required.

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
