Hello my long suffering friend. Can you believe it!!!

RTG!! What a game, what a season! And what a pity we can’t be at the G to experience all this.

At half time I thought we were gone. Too far back, against our bugbear team, and they would arm wrestle us to the finish. But I thought, if that doesn't give us incentive to fire up against Port, nothing will.

Even a close loss would have shown that no lead is too big. Disappointing but not the end of the world.

A shame to keep having to have losses to gee us up though.

But to win it!!

Huge mental victory for us and demons for the other finalists. (No pun intended.)

Huge mental victory.

No team can beat us when we're on.

No deficit is too big.

We will steamroll our way through September.

Our destiny is in our own hands.

GO DEMONS!!!!!

Stole my thoughts, Mazer.

I wonder what other old members who saw the 64 GF think of this win compared to that?   This may be a bit controversial, but I felt in some ways last night was better.  In those bygone days we sort of expected to win premierships (apologies to you young whippersnappers). It was great of course with a nail biting finish but ho hum, yet another flag.  But all these subsequent years of pain (and 186 and Geelong in general) made last night something special.  Now to start getting that ho hum feeling back again.

Joel Smith, out of favour and glued to Casey fields all season ... now about to play finals for the top team.

"David" Bowey. Timed his run to perfection. Football is easy!

To think Steven May gave up captaincy of an AFL club to go to the Bad News Demons. Never mind. Carry on Steven.

I actually thought Smith played ok and hope he keeps his spot next week. The player that I was most impressed with was Bowey who played a ripper in a high pressure match. However I was nervous when I saw him 1:1 with Hawkins!

He needs to ask Lord Nev what to do in those ridiculous circumstances !!!

You could argue Smith is very much IN favour given he was out injured most of the year and came into the team not that long after coming back.

Utter delirium and mayhem in the home last night. 8 year old daughter jumping up and down like a lunatic, screaming at the TV, finger raised repeatedly (not in salute but vicious derision), shouting, “Suck that, Geelong. Suck it!” 11 year old running laps of the living room, swearing and hyperventilating (she’s still traumatised by other Kardinia Park experiences which can not be named), wondering if what she saw was real.

Never have I been more proud of such feral behaviour.

So, anyway, how does one who lives in the lockdown capital (Melb) of Australia  get oneself to Perth in September?!

And that is a beautiful thing Ben, thank you for sharing. Very similar experience with the 6 of us in our lounge, I’m surprised we’re not locked up instead of locked down with the cheering well exceeding the 5km radius. The room was shaking that much cords started falling out of the walls. The almost 3 yr old was the only that could’ve rang 000 since the rest of us almost passed out from the emotions. I’ve been an avid soccer fan all my life but this sport takes us supporters to a whole other level.
Amazing feeling!

What a day to be alive!!

Doing some brewing out in the car-hole at the moment.

Might go for a ride with the better half at lunchtime (not a euphemism, I mean on bicycles).

Trim the hedges this arvo (also not a euphemism).

And then back on the beers and watch the replay a couple more times.

The window was open, senior constable, and they was just sittin' there inside, an' I fought, someone's gunna take these foughts coz they're right out in the open, well almost, where any **** can just take 'em, an' I fought, I'd better take 'em and look after 'em until I can find the **** who owns 'em. I'm glad youse came along just now, senior.

That kid made a great contribution across the game - tough, willing, capable, with vision and intent. Put up with the dirty stuff from Geelong and carried on like matured footballer.

Well done, Sparrow.

Maybe a callow youth has become a man just in time !!

If Viney doesn't get ( tackle) you Swallow ( I mean SPARROW) will!!

So this last line was the euphemism?

Huge effort by our ruck - forward combination in 2021.  Jackson and Gawn have combined for 26 goals this season.  That is some effort.  Combined they've kicked 2 more than Petracca and only 4 less than McDonald.  That's a very impressive effort to go at over a goal per game.  Makes such a difference having that extra avenue.  And Kozzy with 35 as a second year player is just a sensational performance.

So far this morning, I’ve watched the mini replay and the last quarter through. I’ve watched the last 2 mins about 5 times. I’m floating on air

For all those battling through the Covid blues I suggest you keep the last 47 seconds of that game close at hand to play when you’re down in the dumps. The best 47 seconds in my time supporting this club. And the celebrations afterwards. Guaranteed to pick you up

Twas written in the stars. Or perhaps we’re living in some sort of giant simulation. IT had to be scripted but of all people for it to be Maxy to take that mark and win after the siren. Bat sheet mental

I’m going to spend the rest of the day consuming nothing but Demons related content. Lockdown will be a breeze today.

Haven't jumped and screamed as much in my lounge room ( in Brisbane) since the 2000 Qualifying comeback win vs Carlton Or the Froggy Crompton goal in 64 when I was a teenager!!! This after just returning home from experiencing the amazing emotions of the Lions fans at the Gabba. Now we play them and it's the Travis Johnstone/ Beamer/ Stef Martin Cup!!

Can't wait.

Press the small red button when you record games MT64, it adds 25 mins to program you record, i always do this with any live AFL game, its saved me a few times from missing end of match

Wouldn’t have been enough for the WCE game I imagine.

It is! And for me, it’s a sign that I need to shut up on game day thread, because my team will put me to shame. They made me look stupid, and I deserved to be made to look stupid as much as much as Max Gawn deserved to kick that goal, and the umpire who gave that out of bounds not officiate in any finals.

There is no way you were not alone.

All the commentators too had us done and dusted.

That was one of the comebacks of the century.

Not just the score but at kardinia park.

I was an inch away from turning it off and im sure many did.

So thank you Mfc for the never say die attitude and win.

The quote of the night...

" This game was over but nobody told Melbourne"

Filthy on the [censored] umpiring

The AFL need to do something about the horrible decisions, surely their easier to solve than the constant bias in 50/50 calls

I thought the 50 m penalty was rough but kinda made up for the two shocking insufficient intents on May and Gus.

Many thanks, again, to Dan Andrews. No way we would have got that last 50 metre penalty with a Geelong crowd in the ground!

We kicked 8 goals 2 behinds to Geelong’s 3 behinds from the 20th minute of the 3rd Q!

just unbelievable

believe and mental toughness has been the last piece of the puzzle missing and we look to have it now

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
