Really hope Tmac gets a kick in last quarter

Peak Game day thread:

Get amongst it lads..

Our pressure is right off. So clearly Goodwin has instructed our players to hold back (I hope) while Gellong are just everywhere.

I hope they run out of puff in the finals and go straight sets. Happy they are playing the Lions - I reckon they will match up well against them. Then they’ll hopefully be playing GWS or Essendon and get their pants pulled down. Hawkins, Selwood and Danger will all retire and I’ll happily sail off into the sunset.

Trying not to go through this thread to avoid all the usual game day bs, but has anyone pointed out this is our 3 game in a riw off 6 day breaks? They look as flat as a tack to me

they have only had a couple of more shots at goal than us, but here we are losing by 30+ points. a little better by the team at least they did not run away with it. but quite frankly we are the team behind they are playing keepings off and we are letting them. dumb football, man up. it would also be good if they actually tackled the geelong players a little more often. The umpires could pay dropping the ball and holding the ball against geelong occasionally just to make it look impartial.

The key question here is: How do you stop Geelong from going bang bang bang bang in a patch of white hot form in about 5 minutes? I've seen it happen multiple times this year.

Stop that patch of blazing momentum and you have a grinding game that suits us better.

A few years ago at this ground, we were dominating them and we were this far ahead of them only to lose on the last kick of the day. You never give up.

Had the home crowd cheering them on and had Omac on Hawkins.

To be fair picket, you’re a fool.

Ok so we get the worst game out of the way, we cannot play like this again surely, McDonald, Jackson, May and Fritta cannot play 2 bad games in a row. Get it out of our system and focus on next week.

We can take confidence that we have beaten port this year at there home ground. Our midfield will just have to be much better next week.

At least finish off this quarter well.

So glad we have not been smashed.

That lapse in the second was surreal.

Umps really helped cats but our backline crumbled.

If we lose by six to eight goals id take it.

Im worried about tmac. Not sure if we can carry him into a final. It was a bad time to get injured for him.

That's it Deever, like the thinking.

Yeah, what was that about? I actually hope his game gets highlighted in the media this week. He needs a rocket. Sloppy and not doing the team things.

Hes the sort of player like Martin that can win finals.

But watching him tonight he seems a mile away from doing that.

Oliver is our true star. Even max has had a shocker.

Bb our only tall  forward tonight which is a worry. Kozzie trying at least.

Just win this qrt and not speak of it again.

Maybe Gus will touch the ball.

Tmac had dropped off before his injury think we have to go smaller in the forward line

We probably won't win, but we're only 6 goals down. We're definitely capable, and some of the boys really need to stamp their name on a finals spot because some of our outs could have been handy tonight, especially Melksham. Yeah he doesn't get a lot of love, doesn't generate a lot of stats, but you know that he also doesn't do? Bomb balls into the 50!

Anyway, the Cats have stolen enough games from us over the years, I won't lie, it would be very sweet to steal this (but if I have to choose I'd rather beat them in the finals, to knock them out, again).

Go Dees!

Oliver must be absolutely livid with his teammates. Just an absolute warrior.

Will be robbed of votes for Brownlow when deserved by country mile.

The three player who came back into the side this week had to play but I would question the ones we dropped.

Yes!! Go Pickett.  Get the next one and it will make it interesting

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
