Tex isn't the sharpest tool in the shed but he was made captain so he must have a few smarts.

I don't condone racism in any way but I also believe in second chances.

Our key forwards aren't great and when on song Tex is a gun that could win us a premiership.

Mate, what on earth are you thinking?

Funny post,

But to the keyforward bit, [censored] people overrate the impact good key forward have. Doing Carlton a lot of good having the Coleman medallist.

Our weakness is key forwards we would get him at bargain basement. We have all said things we regret.

Again I don't condone racism.

I don't condone Viney elbowing that bloke for a sustained period either.

It's a really interesting question. Interesting in the fact that you have asked given the current context.

Have you long being an admirer of Taylor?

Do you have the capacity to seperate bigotry and a players ability?

Were you presuming Taylor would never leave Adelaide?

Do you think Taylor is beneficial culturally for the Melbourne Football Club?

Confident you won't get any takers here....

Jake Lever thinks it’s a great idea.

This is where this thread should’ve ended. This response says it all.

Edit: To the OP… has impeccable timing always been your forte?!

Even before his latest demonstration of what a [censored] he is i wouldn't have him. He's a bad influence

And while we're at it i wouldn't have Tom Lynch either

EO - you are my favourite poster on Demonland and I have wondered if you have come from nowhere or just a poster who has changed their name.

In answer to your questions

1) I was an admirer of Taylor, particularly because he was best mates with Bernie Vince. My thoughts on him have changed well before this and I no longer respect him

2) of course I can seperate bigotry and players capacity. Can you?

3) I don't presume any player will stay with their club or within their state. Free agency provides an environment for them to move around

4) I would hope and believe Melbourne have a culture in place to bring in players like Tex and educate them. We have Whelan the Wrecker employed by the club to stamp out racism

We will start today’s meal with a

Walker had Eddie Betts in his side for years. And he obviously learnt nothing or didn’t want to

Not one of the posters bothered to say why.

You could be in for a new record today.

Thanks for the feedback Wrecker, I appreciate it.

I've never warmed to Taylor, and personally, I'm all in favour of redemption, is Taylor a rigid/permanently fixed racist... I doubt it.

But... I struggle to seperate on certain issues. eg: Very very pleased I haven't heard Michael Jackson on the radio in numerous years.

However it appears with Taylor, there have been a range of laddish, insensitive experiences over the course of his career, that wouldn't necessarily fit in with the culture that Goodwin has created (or society sanctioned). Do we as a club expend energy on one person to mould them at this point of time for them, or for us? Nah... I don't think so.

If we're to speak about the industry as a bubble of employment, then each club has indigenous staff/players, on your last point - it shouldn't be up to indigenous individuals to have to be present, to 'stamp it out'.

Times are changing, and rapidly so... and thank gawd for that... just not soon enough....now would be great... How soon is now?

*cough* massive segue coming up...

Speaking of bigotry, as Morrissey once sang... 'How soon is now....

Randomly, if I'm fitting the lyrics  of that song on to either of the individual - I'm not sure which individual it fits, the victim or the perpetrator...potentially both.

"

I am the son
And the heir
Of a shyness that is criminally vulgar
I am the son and heir
Of nothing in particular

You shut your mouth
How can you say
I go about things the wrong way?
I am human and I need to be loved
Just like everybody else does

There's a club if you'd like to go
You could meet somebody who really loves you
So you go and you stand on your own
And you leave on your own
And you go home and you cry
And you want to die

When you say it's gonna happen now
When exactly do you mean?
See I've already waited too long
And all my hope is gone

You shut your mouth
How can you say
I go about things the wrong way?
I am human and I need to be loved
Just like everybody else does:

This is a brilliant idea. My only question is why stop at Tex? Why don't we also:

  • bring in Don Pyke to mentor Goodwin,
  • adopt the stare-down, and
  • get both to organise the 2022 pre-season camp?

I’m glad Adelaide FC can’t, otherwise he might have been playing this week.

I didn’t realise we had comedic threads on demonland now cause this is the most laughable thing I have seen since watching us in the dark days.

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
