We can’t play four quarters of good footy. Why? Why?

Sorry to say this but Viney is a krap kick, and slow as a snail.

Career worst form. Needs to be dropped soon unless he starts respecting the severity of a turnover. just kick it high to a 50/50. I'd rather that than lace out an opposition backman. hopeless.

It is fairly obvious our defensive pressure came off half way through that 2nd quarter. It put pressure on the defence with fast running forward from the Hawks.

That has disrupted our defensive lines and exposed us.

This can be fixed by lifting tackling  intensity from our forward line. It really needs to happen in Q3. A 20 point win would be a disappointment but not a surprise.

A loss would be a surprise and a disappointment.

We need to crush weaker teams. The competition for spots 1 and 2 is very hot and Cats and Dogs know what needs to be done.

Viney is a liability.

Midfield mix was well balanced when he was not playing and Harmes was the tagged.

To think we have 5 years of Viney rubbish..

The problem is that this is a completely different Viney to what we saw before his foot injury early in the year.

Ramp it up and put them away, nothing else to it.

We look like we have things going alright and then a lucky flick on and counter attack and they score. I know you create your own luck so let’s get cracking.

We're 13-3

Which is clearly a mesmerising number for the boys.

Atm he is one of the hardest mids in the game,  but also  one of the least skilled and effective.

Needs to get his game back.

Relax guys. 50 point win coming up. The young hawks will quickly run out of steam.

we play crap teams Poorly. Luckily not many of them left

I think I’m sitting comfortably enough, but it just frustrates the hell out of me that we can’t do a clinical job on a team we are clearly better than. Worst is that at 26 points up I allowed myself to think that maybe just maybe we actually might just put a team away early. But of course that’s not us, we drop for 5mins and let them back in to get their tails up.

Burgess can do all the fitness training he wants, Goody and co can create the winning game plan, but it’s up to the players to keep their minds focused throughout the game.

The concern for me is killer teams come out with the same intensity every SINGLE week.

Our performances against bottom teams proves we dont.

Ergo....we are not a killer team.

We are arrogant...lazy or complacent.

Goody should start dragging players to stop this garbage.

Brown play out of the square tmac lead up the ground viney sub out kozzie stay at the feet of brown for god sake open up the forward line.

Oliver start using your brain not your instinct.

I expect us to come out with a much better attitude this 2nd half. I hope Goody points out how bad we played in that quarter and hs a go at them.

Seriously we need McDonald and Kozzie to get into this game and help out the rest of the forwards. Also need Viney to do something.

Love JV but I swear he hardly ever looks up when he kicks. The head is always down. Tough to hit targets when you’re not lifting your eyes.

You can also put your house on him getting caught holding the ball at least once a game. Usually more. Awareness is shizen.

That said I’m happy he’s getting his hands on the pill. His second half will be better.

No it wont and never will NEVER has learnt or improved Trade for a second or third rounder

I think this is a really good opportunity to evaluate our coaching. We’ve seen what they’ve got. Now we adjust and go again.

[censored] me @leave it to deever just leave those black and white statements alone.

Which team this year (or any year) have done the old 'we bring the same intensity every week'.

Not one

Not ever

Not in your lifetime.

Give it a rest.

I'm not sure he isnt P-Man.  Unfortunately i reckon he might be but his kicking is so ordinary he probably can't do alot once he's free.  Just a kick in hope most of the time.

Great at getting to where the ball is, great at getting it.  Not so good after that about 80% of the time.  If he's super superatch fit and running on top of the turf....maybe improves that 80% down to 60% or so and then becomes viable and somewhat dangerous.

Bringing AVB in for Harmes?  I don't think he offers alot other than being solid around the ball, mostly on the inside.  We needed some decent ball use on the outside with Harmes' replacement IMHO.  Probably should've been Melk.  We now look slow and easy to shut down defensively through the middle aside from when Tracc, Clarry or JJ get their hands on it.  Having those three plus Viney and now AVB makes us a bit too ploddy and inside biased IMO.

It's a mystery to me why we make poor teams look good. We'll bank the win i'm sure but we should be better than this.

Problem is .... We can't ever be confident of even that.
Honestly, how we're sitting on top of the ladder is a mystery to me.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
