Very typical you can never relax. It not because of the umpiring but seriously how was that not deliberate. Just walked over the line.

If any game this year confirms what we’ve been seeing all year, we just don’t know how to be a good, let alone great team. And it’s really disappointing. To give probably the worst AFL team put on the park this year a 3 goal run and a second quarter victory is frankly woeful stuff. The Hawks will likely run out of puff, and we’ll get the win, but once more against a lowly team we’ve shown our lack of dominance.

Lucky we bring it against the top teams hey?

I genuinely hate watching us play against bottom sides.

We just don’t have the mental ability to play minute to minute against these mobs. It’s way below our standards we set against the better teams.

Geelong would be up by 50 pts if they were playing Hawthorn.

We are playing like Millionaire footballers but wehave acheived nothing

tom doing nothing ,aussie doing nothing, brown very ordinary, viney gets a lot of the ball but achieves nothing, trac went quiet that quarter

I’m a Viney fan, but FMD his disposal has been shocking. Two entries into forward 50 straight at a hawks player.

They’ve got some assy  goals but we are giving them opportunities by being careless with the footy.

This is the most frustrating thing is we do not have the killer instinct against lower teams. We should be asserting our dominance instead of [censored] footing around! I hope they come out hard in the second half!

And to see Petracca and Oliver having a laugh in the rooms at half time! Are they [censored] serious????

We really going to squeak out a ~14 point win against the worst team in the comp aren’t we

Cause that's how we roll.

It's a mystery to me why we make poor teams look good. We'll bank the win i'm sure but we should be better than this.

In fact he can go back home and babysit seriously ****ful player home the I purfug did we sign a hack rugby p lk ayer up on a huge deal I mesmerising

That's easy for you to say!

If we don’t start dominating the clearances I will scream. Look at the team we are fielding and look at theirs.
This is only a contest because Hawks want it and are applying serious pressure and we are playing like lazy flogs.

Jackson.....two touches...come on.

Kozzie not far behind.

Why doesnt this club turn up for these games.

Its not the first time.

Even if we win its hard to see how we will win a flag at times.

Sorry to be negative but we look like we couldnt be bothered at times.

Jv Im not too sure about.

Tmac needs to impose himself.

In fact quite a few need to wake up.

So much for a oercentage builder.

Im hoping we will win.

Really hard to follow this mob at times.

Rant over.

Tx for listening.

Viney needs to go down to VFL and earn his spot. Only has a left foot and it ain’t much good. Needs to know his limits and play within them.

Can go back to Manangatang ressies for all I care what a hack

My instruction at half time would be “don’t give the ball to Viney” . Seriously the worst skilled in the team even when he’s got the ball in the open. Confuses ambition with ability.

No run from anyone aside from Hunt and Clarry.  A bit from Lingers but then he just burns anyone ahead with his woeful mindless bombing (or OOTF on multiple occasions most matches).

Bad kicking is bad footy.  As are our entries inside 50.  The whole comp has worked us out coming inside.  90% of kicks going to the left forward pocket.  Most backs, particularly the key ones, head there knowing that's where we will almost always go.  It becomes a massive shiiite fest in the air then same on the ground making it almost impossible to score.

So that's all good if you defend that strat almost to perfection.  But when you don't and the opp floods back (mostly to that area) and they're able to work it through our defence, over the back, and run it inside their 50.  Provided they hold one or two deep, we are roasted on the rebound and they get relatively easy entries to shoot from dangerous spots from their hot zones.

Imagine this outcome vs a bottom two club.  We can't even put this mob away because of it.  Any other top 6 team would be 6 plus goals up by now.

Now imagine this same strat in a final against the best teams in the comp.  Good luck!  We might hold some of them to a low score.  We might even win one of those.  But you aren't even making a PF on the back of this.  Let alone making a GF and winning one.

Unconvincing, they want to be able to choose when to play.

Why are we dragged done to the Hawks level of play.

I expected us to play some smooth,  free flowing football.

We are trying conterpunch and not, lead from the front football..

We are not getting much separation from the defenders, not using the central corridors, creating space, or switching the angles.

Playing easy to read football and expecting others to do the work required.

Cmon Dees come out harder a play smarter in the second half.

Honestly, can’t this mob put in a clinical display for once?  Look at the opposition, they are playing hard, we just roll up to these type of games and it sh……ts me to tears.  Every second week it’s foot off the pedal.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
