If West Coast beats Carlton tomorrow and the Dogs beat Fremantle, there will be a two-game gap between 8th (either West Coast or Richmond depending on percentage) and 9th (Essendon), although GWS has a game in hand.

Also if West Coast beats Carlton tomorrow Carlton should sack David Teague. There is no reasonable excuse for Carlton to lose to the side West Coast are fielding tomorrow.

Gosh I checked the score and saw the bombers kicked the 4 in a row to be 3 points up and I thought they will go on with it, then I saw the last minute and thought the wrong score had been put up. The tigs just went bang. McGrath is a big loss to the bombers.

He’s an absolute gun of a footballer and spoke well in his speech.

there's a bit of the titchell / smitchell about him tho - lots and lots of possessions but how damaging is he with the ball in hand?

that said, would happily have him on our list but he should be priority #1 for the peptides to sign up

How will the football journalists of Melbourne account for this topsy-turvy result? I was told the Bomber wunderkinds were now invincible.

Clearly they will just have to talk about Collingwood more.

Watching with "bated breath" the Channel 9 footy show today as to what will be discussed about Friday night's game. Last week a fat zero with tubby saying at the end of the program that they had already discussed Melbourne v Bulldogs earlier. Absolute lie and he was called out on it during the week.

As to the commentators saying during the week that Essendon were the best team currently (oh FFS) give me a break. Now explain last nights result you muppets. Looking at you Taylor &  Brayshaw. How do you keep your gig at 7.

You mean Essendrug didn't win!!???   According to the media scribes they were the next big thing!

Today’s The Age headline.
“Tigers reinforce premiership credentials against valiant Bombers“.

and this.. “The Tigers have now won successive matches for the first time since round two and 11 straight against the Bombers, erasing any doubts about their premiership credentials in a season where they have struggled to find a groove.”

Doesn’t take much for the media Richmond bandwagon to revive. Beat fickle Adelaide and callow Essendon and they are favourites again. And this is called journalism.

Serious analysis required of the relative benefits to the MFC of a Bulldogs loss/win today against Freo.

On balance (but only just) I tend towards the wingman theory where it is safer having the Dogs play interference against Brisbane in the top two stakes.

For those who think we will remain ladder leaders having Brisbane second when commencing the finals series is not a bad outcome perhaps

So enjoyable being on top of the ladder on merit but the permutations are such unchartered waters for me at least.

Just watching the show now and we have been given a very good rundown of the game as well as a Tom McDonald interview. Neil Mitchell must have got thru to Tony Jones. Haha

Can we say go freo?

We can. Although I've rarely seen a team with such ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Days like today is when you miss the early Sunday game. The price on West Coast today is tempting even with half a side.

Watched that last quarter goal-fest in the west from Essendon and Richmond where just about every i50 resulted in a goal.

That's just not going to happen against us.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
