Still remain the hunted, as we are the real thing, though the bookies have the Dogs the favourite in our next game and others would believe the Lions are better than us. Crows would love to knock us over, I expect some fire from them.

Time to execute our game plan with some dominance, in preparation for teams that will challenge our best footy.

I want to see goal accuracy, effort, some strut, skills, high disposal efficiency and for them to change gears into the top one.

Enough of getting through not playing the best footy. I expect we will still be building, and our best will be next week.

Our game hasn't been bad, not too many mistakes, we give an effort for the 4 quarters, we have ability to vary our styles to beat the opponents and our pressure game is elite.

MFC is a strong and balanced team that has consistency, confidence and joy, but time to get our act together and play some great footy.

Gawn to show some excellent ruck craft and field marking.

May to kick a barrel from the kick in and to control the structure of our defence.

The backline to keep on keeping on, to continue to block attacks and slingshot the ball through the corridors.

Jackson to get 2 or 3 goals and dominate around the stoppages.

Pettraca to star.

Oliver can't be stopped.

Langdon has been so consistent as has Salem.

We will win the clearances this week.

We have such a flexible forward line that must worry the opposition. If one avenue or style is blocked we can go to another and another, and another. Hoping that is also our capacity with the general play.

Step it up to our A grade game.

Go Dees.

First and foremost respect the opposition. Being our intensity from the start, I’d like to see us start a match well for a change.

I want to see Petracca at his best today, he’s having a good year but I still feel like we haven’t seen him hit his peak. I want a match that puts the competition on notice.

I also want to see us get our clearance numbers back up, we have one of the best ruckman in the comp and we have plenty of capable ball winners. There’s no reason why we shouldn’t be seeing dominance in that area.

Finally I also want to see Weid have a good game, multiple goals and strong marking. Mark your territory Sam, demand that Brown have to put in a damn good performance at Casey to take back the spot.

We’re not a flat track bully team. System, process, structure.

I expect a similar outcome to last week. Adelaide will challenge us but we’ll keep them at arm’s length and win by a comfortable, regulation 5 goals.

I’d like to see Trac have a big game. He’s not quite been at his best lately. Build his confidence before the big tests v the Dogs and Lions. We need him firing to give us the best chance to win those games

Hoping the Weid can clunk a few marks and slot 3-4 goals

Another game for Petty to build his confidence. Reckon he’ll take Thilthorpe, decent young KPF.

To all the Demonlanders over there for the game I hope you have a thoroughly enjoyable day.

Go Dees

Closest to the Pin??

1 Goal to Weid = 4 goal win

2 Goals to Weid = 7 goal win

3 Goals to Weid = 10 goal win

4 Goals to Weid = 13 goal win

ie:

Melbourne Goals:

4 Goals Weideman, 3 Goals Mcdonald. Pickett. 2 Goals Petracca,  Fritsch .1 Goal Jackson,  Oliver. Spargo. Melksham

Get out of the blocks fast and cruising to a ten goal victory would be a great way to spend Saturday afternoon! Perfect prep for Dogs!! Spread the goals around, but Weid with 3-4 would be great, final request, kick more goals than points, 18-12 sounds good!

Beautiful weather in Adelaide today it looks. 24 and sunny with only a few clouds.

I’m actually thinking we’re going to have one of our bigger wins today. 40+ points. The crows have fallen into a hole lately (although they were decent last week). I just can’t see them kicking many goals against our defence. We’ll do what the Giants did to them a few weeks ago.

Ouch my head hurts after a few too many last night. So pumped for today, it’s a stunning morning here and looking forward to being at one of the most picturesque grounds in the comp to see us beat the brakes of these no-hopers.

The airport was a very strange experience last night. I had no clue they were concerned about the “outbreak” in Melbourne and was totally unprepared for the security/clearance process they had set up, the whole internal borders thing is eye opening to say the least (the absolute loons behind me in the line complaining about “the flu, masks and temp checks” reminded me of a a Trump rally).

Go Dees!

I haven’t watched much of the Crows recently but looking at the stats from last weeks game against the Eagles they conceded 11 goals to the Eagles KPF triumvirate. Of those Darling (who takes second best defender, best goes to Kennedy) kicked 5.  The Weid obviously isn’t in the same class as Darling yet but he will take 2nd best defender.

I reckon the Weid to kick 4 and TMac 3. Reckon the margin of victory will be 30 points or thereabouts.

Hope they stop wrestling their opponents at stoppages long enough to get on their bike and get themself free for the tap from Max, everytime I see one, Oliver is scrambling with an opponent and has zero chance of getting the ball.

Love to see Lever mark everything that gets bombed into D50, dish to Salem for him to deliver to tmac who goes long to a 1on1 in our 50 where Weid either marks it or Kozzi scoops it up and kick a sausage roll.

I see this as another bankable 4 points.  I would like to see our midfield improve clearance work - winning more, but also putting more pressure on any wins that they get to impact forward flow.

2 way running will be critical as always.  The Dees squeeze is on.  The backline is phenomenal at absorbing pressure, and I hope we give the boys down there lots of support.  We need to have cleaner short exits from backline contests (cost us 3-4 goals last weekend).

Forward of the ball, would like to see Weid physically dominating by crashing packs, taking marks and hitting the scoreboard.  Melksham to play a feeder-into-50 role, hopefully he has received a message about tackles and forward pressure.  Kozzi in dry conditions (in front of family he has over there) to cut it up and put on a clinic.

2.5 goals better per quarter = 10 goal win.  I would like to see them held scoreless at least one quarter.

Go Dees.

Would have loved to see Ben Brown play in perfect conditions.

Dry conditions should expose our true skill and structure. Adelaide are improved and can bring a threat for at least 3 quarters. If we play as we have all year, with respect and endurance, we should put them away. If Adelaide have an off week and Tex is rusty on return, could be party time. One week at a time. Go Dees!

Yep Dees -26.5 /unders166.5 Crows with around 45-50 match score, Dees 90-100 match score @$4 and I'll take that.

Gamble Responsibly.

Arrived in the ADL. A lot more pleasant than Melbourne. About to head to Glenelg beach eat some breaky before heading to the City. Looking forward to a convincing Dees win. Any SA based fans that want to go to the game have 4 tickets available

I hope May lays Tex Walker out today. Remember when he said Lever left Adelaide and chose money over success haha ?

There is no trick, no illusion.

There is no house of cards.

Admittedly we have had some luck, but we haven't been gifted some fortuitous draw and fluked our way to 9 zip.

We are the real deal.

I can't see us bringing our full heat today. We don't need to. They will dial it back a bit im sure. We need something in the tank for next week.

But we will bring enough to get the job done. The line in this game is 25 points. We will make that not getting out of second gear.

But that line is predicated on the crows bringing their very best pressure game.

If they don't we will get on top early and smash the easing up in the last (which will annoy many im sure(.

Im predicting a 57 point win.

And that I'll read complaints we should have won by 100.

It will be one thing for Adelaide to try and stop us.

It'll be another thing for them to beat us. They don't have the weapons.

I feel we can handle whatever the opposition throws at us.

Swans and Blues brought a lot of pressure and tackling and we found a way.

Im also supremely confident in our back line holding  off Taylor Walker, as they did to the Coleman leader last week.

Really looking forward to seeing Weideman. Adelaide’s has a young & inexperienced backline so if things go his way I can see him kicking a bag.

He needs to in my opinion!!!!

Crows will target Max. Similar to the way they targeted him last year when he had an injury. He will be worked over off the ball.

Gather Round is here, kicking off with a Thursday night blockbuster as Adelaide faces Geelong. The Crows will be out for redemption after a controversial loss last week. Saturday starts with the Magpies taking on the Swans. Collingwood will be eager to cement their spot in the top eight, while Sydney is hot on their heels. In the Barossa Valley, two rising sides go head-to-head in a fascinating battle to prove they're the real deal. Later, Carlton and West Coast face off at Adelaide Oval, both desperate to notch their first win of the season. The action then shifts to Norwood, where the undefeated Lions will aim to keep their streak alive against the Bulldogs. Sunday’s games begin in the Barossa with Richmond up against Fremantle. In Norwood, the Saints will be looking to take a scalp when they come up against the Giants. The round concludes with a fiery rematch of last year's semi-final, as the Hawks seek revenge for their narrow loss to Port Adelaide. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
