Dude you must be watching a different game. Was excellent tonight.

When you win a loose ball and look up and some weird 5ft kid named Charlie Spargo is on your case:

What is this fascination with Melksham? He was more than serviceable.

You can't be someone who was upset during the Gameday thread and not be in here in raptures with that win. We dug deep when we needed to and although we didn't cash in on our dominance in the middle two quarters as much as we should have, we remained really tough to play against and put Sydney, a top 4 side, off their game.

They lifted immensely from when we hit the 22 point margin. They moved it quicker, took us on more directly, and opened up the ground more. But despite everything they threw at us, they didn't get in front. Which means that's 8 straight games in which we have not been behind at any stage in the fourth quarter (although that was the first fourth quarter we've lost).

Oliver and TMac were the big stars. I thought Harmes was poor early but his fourth quarter was really good. Brown's first half was really important, and as TMac said in the post-match interview the two of them were more in sync tonight than last week. May good on Buddy but I reckon he was clearly unfit. Also loved Rivers' game.

Petty struggled but IMO we have to keep playing him to work on that synergy with Lever and May.

If there’s a better sight in football than Ronald Dale Barassi singing Grand Old Flag then I don’t need to know about it.

Neal daniher in the crowd tonight wearing a Melbourne scarf was great to see

Our defence is so solid - never been so confident in our ability to shut out a game, and Swans goals required some creativity or above average finishing. If teams bomb it into our backline they won’t win.

Clayton O has always been special but tonight was amazing, breaking tackles like Judd at his peak. Not sure what’s up with Brayshaw, this week and last he’s panicking or not clean. He’s getting in the right spots but it’s not working for him. Really happy to see Harmes back to his best and thankfully not kicking too much. His running and grunt was awesome.

Sydney so impressive around the ball, well coached, good team. This is up there with the cats and tigers win.

Go Dees!!

Forward intensity was excellent all night from Spargo. Really finding his niche which is great to see for a 4 th year player.

And currently 2 games clear with the Bulldogs playing tomorrow

Yes and if we play. Expecting to win Carlton  will lead at 3/4 time and we won’t get up. Need to concentrate against a lousy  side next week!

I wasn't able to see the game (but am now enjoying this read!?) so in case they don't feature again anywhere, could someone post 1. RDB singing the Song, 2. The post-match Tom MacDonald.

Seeing Barass on the big screen singing the theme song brought a tear to my eye.  For those like me, who are over 60, I'll take this anytime......Ugly win or not.

But geez, there are some of you on here that need to take a chill bill and FFS calm down.  If I relied on this site for updates, I would have thought we were getting belted.  We would have lost a game like this last year.

The one I really want is next week..... please... we used to be the Carltank's biartch.  Time to give it back big time.

Tracc limping. Doesn't look great.

Copped a massive corkie in the last play. Would be extremely doubtful next week

a good win, if we could only improve on our kicking efficiency, we would be so better. i hope there boys are hungry enough to want to stay on top of the ladder and come out again week after week with that hunger. Demons sides of old often got complacent especially when playing some of the lower sides.

They played well

You should recalibrate your expectations

Anb was just ok but geez if u reckon gus and hunt played ok then you have zero expectations.

We won that game off May...Tmac and Oliver.

Dammit, was that the first time this year we haven't won the last quarter?  2.1 to Syd 2.2?

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #32 Tom Sparrow

The rugged Sparrow’s career appears to have plateaued in recent years. He makes the side on a week to week basis but he is unable to establish a foothold in the team’s midfield and arguably performs best outside of the contest in a forward position without being a goal kicker. He remains a good honest foot soldier but is not a star.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #33 Tom Fullarton

Fullarton managed a couple of games in the first half of the season but soon found himself back in the VFL. There, he found a niche at centre half back but it was not enough to retain a place on the list at season’s end.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #35 Harrison Petty

Entering 2025, it looked as if Petty would be secured in a defensive position, but plans shifted and he spent more time forward, averaging just over a goal per game throughout the season. It remains uncertain which area of the ground he will be expected to cover under the new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The dynamic small forward, possessing an innate ability to generate excitement with his explosive play around the goals, successfully transitioned into a role that afforded him more time in the midfield. The club also negotiated a long-term deal with Pickett, thereby eliminating any prospect of a move west by their star young player.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #37 Kade Chandler

For a few years now, he has been a reliable, hard working pressure forward, but in 2025, Chandler elevated his performance, becoming an integral component of the team with enough versatility to play effectively on a wing from time to time.
