Only bad injury appears to be Tomlinson

Feel so bad for the bloke.

He has been playing so well.

His face says it all.

If Kozzie and Jackson played in the snow they wouldn’t leave any footprints. Such balance and silk.

Strange old game but it’s the 4 points that count

Very relieved. Good effort to overcome the early injuries and flatness from last week's exertion.

I'm shattered for Tomlinson. He's been so good this year.

Can someone explain why we went down in percentage on the ladder??

% is points for / points against x 100
In order to increase percentage we would need to win by a greater amount than our current %.
Any other result will result in a decrease in %

The longer the season goes on, though, the less impact an individual game will have on % though the principle remains the same.

Thank god for that.

A lot of players down but we still got the chocolates.

Really feel for Tomo. Poor bugger.

The AFL were like “this win didn’t deserve a percentage boost”. They’re not wrong.

Shocking first half performance. As undeserved a win as you are ever likely to see

The story is Thommo’s injury. Cruel luck for the lad. Has big implications for our defensive unit for the rest of the season.

Good sides find a way. The gulf was evident in the end.

Shout out to Dr D for telling me I was “the problem” for predicting at halftime that we would still win given North have a history of dropping away in the second half. Which is exactly what happened. Keep up the stellar work Doc.

Today was a celebration of Dogga and Kozzie. What a draft that has already turned out to be. Both are stars rapidly on the rise and today we needed them to be. Especially with Gawn having a rare down day.

Fritta probably best on. Hopefully doesn’t miss too many weeks.

Clarry lifted when really needed.

I’m choosing to focus on the positive aspects in that we were challenged and ended up winning by 5 goals. Onwards and upwards.

I will take credit for this win. Wore a different MFC polo shirt today, thought I might mix it up a little. Changed back to my lucky MFC polo at half time and veiola!! You are welcome. ?

On the milk run down to tassie cream rises to the ? eventually...

Yes

The more games we play, the higher the margins have to be to keep it as high

No

Our percentage going into this game was 150.7. If our percentage for this one game is higher than that, our overall percentage goes up. Otherwise it goes down.

Our one-game percentage today is 141. So our overall percentage goes down.

We were 150% beforehand. To sustain that level you need to continue winning by that margin. Any game you win by less than that margin will reduce your overall percentage

@Better days ahead, sorry for being preachy, and I'll be preachy.

Don't let your own personal expectations of things that haven't even occurred yet (the game) - get in the way of your version of 'deservedness or not'. We won and we deserved to win. There was a truckload of adversity... and a truism in football is that, if you are a very good team (or above) and you can grind out a win, then that is a great win.

We just did that.

  • Viney out
  • Tomlinson out within the game
  • Ben Brown's first game (synergy as a forward line, taking time to adapt).
  • Baker in...

A range of things showed up for adversity... we did bloody well.

Not a pretty win, but I’ll take it.

Some really rubbish posting going on in the match day thread. Some folks need to put their phones away during the game and have their meltdowns in private.

We were always going to be seriously challenged.
but as stated North cannot run out a game

I think losing Tommo, so early, to a really serious injury rocked a few players for a while

Dr. Depression really showed his colours today

  • AFLW PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The Demons return to Casey Fields (aka the Field of Dreams) this Saturday to host the Saints in Round 2. If you’re feeling lucky, head down the Monash for some family-friendly footy—you might even walk away a winner. The first 5,000 adults through the gate will receive an entry into the $10,000 helicopter ball drop. With Casey’s infamous wind, what could possibly go wrong? Closest ball to the pin wins. So spread the word, get down there—and good luck!

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.
