It seems odd that we have had no press conf, press release nor member email to announce the appointment.

Tom Morris who leaked the story of Bartlett standing down seems to have gone to ground.  And the Pert email he thought had been sent on Saturday night doesn't seem to have existed or he was misinformed.

Wouldn't mind seeing something official from mfc on Kate's appointment.

the pert email was to core business units, i.e. goodwin, who mentioned it in his press conference

Weren't people saying Bartlett was looking really sick at the AGM?

And info for members?

I will proclaim her to be God when in happens.

Definitely has the CV to help push through the new facility.

All the best Kate, someone get her a new scarf!

The majority of Presidents and CEO's I have seen at the MFC have been average plodders with a few complete farc ups and the very odd outstanding ones.

If Kate turns out to be a competent plodder I'll be happy.

I know her from ABC TV Breakfast appearances, don’t always agree with her politics but she is very competent.

Swings left? Let’s hope she doesn’t bring that garbage into the club

Equality means equal for both parties.  It is better in some places in the world, but i think you are so far off the mark here it just screams ignorance and male entitlement.   i might need a reality check and live in fantasy land as you put it, but i would say you need to delve a bit deeper and look within yourself.

You still did not answer why you reacted in such a way?

Please explain !

Do you want equality of opportunity or equality of outcome ?

They are very different things.

Is she hugging Mark "Choco" Williams there? Great to see!

Gotta love Mark "Choco" Williams! Not sure if people read the article in the Herald Sun on Sunday about Demons wingman Ed Langdon singing the praises of Mark "Choco" Williams and how he has helped Ed Langdon to be more calm with his kicking and improve his kicking skills. Brilliant stuff!

Seems as qualified as any president we’ve had in the past and it’s a great progressive move for us to have our first female president.

The coterie club might need to be a little sharper on the locations of future functions though!

All the best to Bartlett, probably the most stable years off the field we’ve had since I’ve been following the Dees.

Mark Williams has been the missing ingredient, the assistant that we truly needed. I just hope he sticks around for a good number of years.
The MFC needs stability and continuity

Players will come to us and our core will play out entire careers.

Don't know about sick but he looked over weight and a little worn out. So that fits comment.

Whatever the reasons, it appears that the changeover to Roffey has been handled well without much fuss. No mud slinging or rumours.

Well done MFC and another indication that we are a professional outfit with a smooth operation. .

Are you talking about women in China, Middle East and India?    Because they have it bad.  Real bad.

As for Australia and the west you are living in fantasy land if you think there's gender inequality here.

This is a ****house post. Congratulations.

This appointment has been made on merit. Anyone suggesting otherwise has obviously not bothered to do any research. Her accomplishments with respect to delivery of major projects are truly impressive and we are in the very fortunate position that she has been leveraging those connections to get our home base approved. I believe this appointment can only help that process.

This is not a token appointment to tick a gender equality box. She is the best person for the job. End of story.

Best of luck Kate.

Dear Kate,

Congratulations,

Some notes for your agenda ? from the outer:

1. Hold open elections of directors and publish subsequent results

2. Treat and inform members with respect; members whose passion is why you are there.

3. Build a Board better than the rest in the AFL, befitting the men's and women's teams exciting performances on the field.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
