Demonland 74,457 Posted April 7, 2021 Posted April 7, 2021 Demon skipper Max Gawn is one big unit at 208cm and lately he’s been standing even taller. We already know that he’s unstoppable in the air when going for a mark but with three consecutive victories to open the season, you might say that he has his head in the clouds. And that is literally true thanks to a fan at Demonland.com who recently arranged for our big ruckman to go even further than the clouds but way beyond to the edge of space and into the stratosphere. And this photograph of Max at 35km above the Earth with the curve of the planet visible behind him is the proof of the new heights reached by Max. The background to this picture is a special programme from Earth to Sky Calculus which is about bringing real life science to students. https://www.earthtosky.store/free-lift They have a programme of measuring radiation levels, cosmic rays and other experiments on high altitude balloon flights over the Sierra Nevada mountains in the USA. You can see the results of some of their work at this site: https://www.spaceweather.com/ They also take “non-scientific” payloads, (ala Max) providing you pay for the helium to get the balloon up there. So we sent Max along for the ride and the result was that he reached an altitude of 35.1 km (115,158 feet) during a 2.5 hour flight to the stratosphere, and we got great footage of nearly the entire flight. As with the Melbourne Football Club it’s onwards and upwards from here and there’s lots more to come about the story of the high flying Demon captain ... 22 8 1
Demonstone 23,597 Posted April 7, 2021 Posted April 7, 2021 This won't please members of The Flat Earth Society. They have members all around the globe, you know. 1 9 1
Rab D Nesbitt 8,966 Posted April 7, 2021 Posted April 7, 2021 He's probably right over Mt Whitney. The largest peak in the lower 48 states. That looks like Mono Lake over his left shoulder
Timothy Reddan-A'Blew 5,690 Posted April 7, 2021 Posted April 7, 2021 Well done Demonland! And kudos to the humble ol' cable tie... 1
Smokey 4,391 Posted April 7, 2021 Posted April 7, 2021 Many on here will say we're getting ahead of ourselves. It's not like Max is on the moon or anything yet. Goody under real pressure 1 3
Timothy Reddan-A'Blew 5,690 Posted April 7, 2021 Posted April 7, 2021 p.s. I thought this thread was going to be about his second goal on Sunday!

We Demonlanders have experienced far too much ‘flat earth’ to be in the least concerned about what that Society thinks. Onward and upwards Dees!

Skuit 10,031 Posted April 7, 2021 Posted April 7, 2021 'Demons star Max Gawn triggers the latest global helium supply crisis' is an awesome headline, the big fella destroying the hopes and dreams of kiddies across the world with upcoming birthday parties.
In Harmes Way 7,871 Posted April 9, 2021 Posted April 9, 2021 Luke Jackson can jump that high without the need for helium
Olgreybeard49 261 Posted April 9, 2021 Posted April 9, 2021 If it was Kozzie, the ump would have called unrealistic attempt.
Dr.D 1,771 Posted April 9, 2021 Posted April 9, 2021 are we really ignoring the fact that we've been playing pretty ordinary football? We were very poor against free, we were average against stkillda who've showed that they aren't half the team of last season and we took 3.5 quarters to shake off a depleted gws. concerning. 1

Sunday will show us if we're any chop. Lose badly and the narrative will be that we've beaten 3 sides that were not only injury depleted before the game but copped 1 to 3 injuries during the game.

Even if we win the narrative will be we played Geelong at the right time, no Danger or Cameron, they are past it anyways, too slow etc.etc. And to be honest that suits me just fine. I don’t want any hype or tyre pumping. Keep the lid firmly secured please. 1

Wouldn't be saying that if we had kicked straight for goal. We are doing just fine.

Thats really exciting Dr D!! We've gone from "very poor" to "average" to beating GWS with "3.5 quarters"... sounds like we're coming on beautifully, while beating everyone put in front of us... ?
