Sam Edmund on SEN just said that Christian Salem will be staying at the Dees and it's just a matter of timing before it's announced.

Continued by saying he wants to stay, and the dees want him staying as well.

Well I for one am glad everyone is happy with him staying.

I hope that his mail is correct Christian Salem is in the top echelon of our playing group has good hands and is an excellent distributor most of the time. He is also one of our best performers in the backline, a much needed player that we must keep.

He's been flying under the radar for the last couple of years. Never had a breakout game ala Gawn at Kardinia Park that made everyone sit up and take notice, but he's developed into one of our most consistent performers without anyone in the footy media really noticing. There's not too many better half backs around and he should go close to the AA squad this year. Great news that he's signing on.

He's on the way to becoming our version of Corey Enright, an underrated superstar in a team of bigger name superstars!

I have complete confidence he will win one-on-one

This. He is becoming Nev-like in one on ones. Keeps his feet a lot more than he used to as well

Thats what we like to hear!

Can’t see petracca going anywhere if 2 of his best mates are signed up

who stole my Melbourne Demons?

Having met Salem before, he seems like a really genuine guy. I'd suggest that since the club has nursed him through some tough thyroid issues and he has friends at the club, he'll very likely be a one club player.

His 1v1 game has improved, but I don't have the same confidence in him to win those that others do just yet, but hope I'll soon be on board.

And the fact he makes extra $$$ from his in club hairdressing business, he’s staying for sure.

Christian Salem. The Quiet Achiever

If he sustains his recent form it won’t stay quiet for too long. He has been massive this season in a settled backline. What was all that discussion about draft decisions and Josh Kelly a few years ago?

Salem’s Salon.

Clayton Oliver is apparently a regular in there.

Explains a lot about what is happening with Oliver’s hair.
Thankfully Salem cuts his opponent better than he cuts hair.

Ok ok let’s give them both an extra $2000 a year so Christian doesn’t do that to Oliver’s hair and Oli has enough dough to get a real haircut.

I do hope you're pronouncing that correctly DZ.... ;)

One can only assume instead of Disney Land, one Max Gawn will head off to the Ekka if we win the flag.

One of the key things on re-watch of the Hawks game was how many times Salem receives an absolute hospital handpass/kick but he still sits there fully prepared to get crunched, and yet still disposes of the ball to the next player to start the chain.

He makes messy situations look good and he is a hard player which you might not think at first glance.

Salem's a gun.

His decision making and skills are as good as anyone who's come through our doors.

Quite underrated one-on-one as well. Don't remember him losing too many contests over the journey.

I guess he's more a surgeon than a butcher :p

4 year deal at $550k would be starting offer. He’s a lock for our starting 18 and in my current top 10 players at the club (#9).

Get the man a pen. Sign him up ASAP.

Salo is definitely under the radar.

As a half back he is like an extra on baller really linking up the chain.

But it's his courage and intercept marking that keep his engine and our team possession game going whether we are on top or under pressure.

IMO he is really worth $600 for 4 years and AF who isn't convinced should start by watching the GWS win at the Gabba in Round 17 in 2020 to see the extra level his game has gone to. His 1:1 are good and he is having great IMPACT with his possessions  and metres gained.

A must signature and I wonder If he ever thinks of the name Kelly. My suspicion is never Which shows what an uncomplicated team player we are so lucky to have at the peak of his powers.

Leave Clayton alone.

His hair is a work of art and perfectly frames his angry face (see Frost exchange last match)

We now have Salem, Hunt and Rosman from that deal, via Tyson for Preuss and then Preuss pick for Rosman. If I got that right that is pretty good I would have thought. All 3 players will be in our AFL side before too long IMO and for what it is worth, I wouldn’t swap Salem for Kelly. I think we need Salem more than Kelly with our current list.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • POSTGAME: Geelong

The Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, falling to 0–4 after a more spirited showing against the Cats at Kardinia Park. Despite the improved effort, they went down by 39 points, and the road ahead is looking increasingly grim.
