He'll always be remembered for getting the ball to Harmes who got it to Jack Watts to run in and goal to beat the Pies.

Thank you,  OMac.

Heard Geelong might be interested but is a bit too young. Anyway good luck OMAC.

Most . . . really? I wonder what the evidence is for that assertion.

I follow all the ex-Deez in the AFL. I wonder if 'most' on 'Land do as well.

Perhaps they should have used many rather than most?

That's great Queanbeyan Demon that you follow all ex Demons, it is.

Shouldn't have jumped the gun there, I personally don't and I'm not sure I'm in the minority there on 'Land either. I and a lot of others are mainly about the now but I don't begrudge anyone who isn't like that.

  • 1 year later...

I heard from a relative of Oscars that he has been offered a two year contract with Freo and he currently making plans to pack up and move over there as we speak.

I wish him all the best. Apparently he has been working his guts out at VFL level and has been rewarded.

Collingwood would’ve won this game by 1 point after Watts kicks that goal if that was this year.

I think getting on a third AFL list will qualify him for the honorific title of "journeyman".

And a hearty round of congratulations, too.

I have watched this about 150 times. One of the ultimate highlight goals in my opinion. I was also there that day and screamed so much I think I lost my voice for a few day. That whole link of play was magnificent to watch. ❤️💙

That's awesome for omac.

Great reward for super hard work.

By all accounts his back injury was pretty bad, which makes getting back on an AFL list all the more meritorious given the rehab he would have had to push through - made tougher by not being in the AFL system with all the resources and support at club land.

A super smart fella who works hard and is the very definition of a solid citizen. Great pick up for freo.

Good on freo for offering him a two year contract. Uprooting your life and moving to the other side of the country is no small thing.

14 more games and he gets to 100 games and AFL life membership.

Good onya Omac.

Fremantle will be full of state level footballers soon just to maintain a full list.

And it will be glorious.

I honestly tear up each time I watch that. That was maybe the best goal I’ve witnessed in terms of the absolute limbs when he put it through. It was symbolic on so many levels: his Queen’s Birthday retribution (was it his last one?) and he cast off the massive weight on his shoulders - you could tell by the look on his face: part sheer exhaustion and part walking on air.

Good on him!

good enough to be on a list for sure

Good luck to omac but you look at Dees backline in the 2018 Prelim and wonder how the hell we got that far. Bog ordinary. Those defenders wouldnt get near selection nowdays.

Freo must be losing their mind.

Good.

Well yeah..?

He had some physical attributes but opposition coaches worked out quickly that he had an ordinary footy IQ, made many incorrect decisions and was a fumbler under pressure. If it was not for his brother he would not have played 50 games.

3/10

This is a footy forum not an obituary piece.

Edit: Wait, what ..... Freo. lol although I honestly hope he does well and makes a go of it.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
