YesitwasaWin4theAges 6,817 Posted October 28, 2020 Posted October 28, 2020 Surely the club knows our Forward line dynamic is not working whatsoever players like Higgins can't be ignored. Our Forward line is the worst function part of our game and shows no sign of improving with the same cattle. Time to put some fingers in some pies Dees. 2 Quote

dazzledavey36 56,269 Posted October 28, 2020 Posted October 28, 2020 Higgins article on AFL.com Richmond's Jack Higgins will investigate a trade after informing the club that he was keen to explore a move to a rival club. The Tigers youngster had his exit interview with the club following its premiership win and will assess his suitors upon returning to Melbourne from the Gold Coast. He is yet to meet any interested clubs but the Tigers will want reasonable trade compensation for the 21-year-old, who still has a year to run on his contract. 3 Quote
dee-tox 4,835 Posted October 28, 2020 Posted October 28, 2020 I'd have him but I worry that it will be expensive. We don't have heaps to offer. Pretty sure he'll have a great career. Quote
Elegt 872 Posted October 28, 2020 Posted October 28, 2020 Good player pre brain surgery. I'd take him Quote
Nascent 9,345 Posted October 28, 2020 Posted October 28, 2020 This is a strange one. Seemingly good player who played a lot of footy early and a former 1st round pick with another year to go on his contract. So why are Richmond happy to show him the door? Something seems a bit off about this. 1 Quote

whatwhat say what 23,808 Posted October 28, 2020 Posted October 28, 2020 not quick, but smart toby greene-like qualities the difference is of course when greene was higgins' age he was wracking up 30+ possessions a game as a first rotation midfielder 1 Quote

Medium forward types we have : Fritsch, Melksham, Hannan , Spargo, ANB, AVB, Jones, Sparrow, Baker, Hunt I could easily get rid rid of 4 of them to add to Bennell, Dunkley and Corey Wagner. Basically, I'm trying to say that we have room for his type. if spargo isn't a small idk who is - although agree jury is out, jones, sparrow and baker are most definitely midfielders. however i agree i'd rate higgins above all bar fritsch in that group Quote
Lord Nev 13,512 Posted October 28, 2020 Posted October 28, 2020 Doubtful he'll go to the Saints IMO. 2 Quote

He is actually a small inside midfielder who is forced to play forward because he is never ever going to get to play inside mid in our team (and likely any other team at afl level). He strengths are that he has good disposal over short distances, great awareness, hard at the ball and player, can read the play better than just about anyone on our list and usually makes the right decisions. His weaknesses are his lack of height, size and speed. Most of his good attributes are shared with Hannan, except Hannan is obviously better in the air with his height. You would never call Hannan a small, and I wont call Spargo a traditional small. Sparrow, Jones and Baker are all midfielders who play half forward flank and pitch in on other areas. Jones and Baker on the wing and Sparrow in the guts for his own development more than anything. Higgins is exactly the same. He was a pure mid at underage level who could push forward. At the tigers he started out as a pure forward as thats where he could get a game, but he spent a considerable amount more time in the midfield in his second year. Quote
Whispering_Jack 31,364 Posted November 5, 2020 Posted November 5, 2020 Jack Higgins seems to have been off the radar a little according to Tim Watson on SEN this morning: "What interests me most is why there aren't more clubs, and maybe there are, but why there are not more clubs that are really desperately keen to try and secure his services, like Melbourne." I saw him and an entourage of helpers training at a park near my place last summer and he was putting in a lot of hard yards to get fit after his brain surgery. It was quite an achievement for him to get back into senior footy when you have such a health scare. Question is whether it remains a concern for recruiters and whether someone’s willing to take a risk. 2 1 Quote

Lord Travis 10,817 Posted November 9, 2020 Author Posted November 9, 2020 Disappointing he's nominated the Saints. Strange choice too for someone who "just wants to play footy", as Saints have an abundance of half forward-mids in Billings, Butler, Gresham, Lonie, Sinclair, Kent, Hind etc. Saints cleaning up with some decent players traded in last year and this year. We're dropping further behind the 8-ball! 1 Quote
Adam The God 30,706 Posted November 9, 2020 Posted November 9, 2020 Certainly a good signing for St Kilda, but I think we have to take the trade period as a whole. At the moment, it's ordinary. Let's see what happens. Quote
Die Hard Demon 1,224 Posted November 9, 2020 Posted November 9, 2020 Would've been a great fit for us... Once again Saints on the ball and making all the moves. Well and truly passed us imo. 1 Quote
TRIGON 4,819 Posted November 9, 2020 Posted November 9, 2020 Saints currency in picks, as things currently stand, is 17, 64, 77, 93 Pick 17 should get it done, quick and clean. Quote
