DONE DEAL | Mitch Hannan has been traded to the Western Bulldogs for a future 3rd round pick.

We'll always have that goal.

Fair deal really.  He isn't worth more than that after the last two years.

Also means, after the pick swap, we still have a 1st, 3rd and 4th rounder for next year to use which is good.

Thanks for kicking that goal Mitch. loved your work. He'll be good for the dogs.

  • Demonland changed the title to Farwell Mitch Hannan

Hopefully the Dogs stink it up next year so this becomes a pick in the mid 40s rather than mid 50's.

Hannan is a talented player (his goal kicking class was on display from his debut game) that lacks consistency and impact from week to week. He'll be ok for the Dogs but expect to him to float in and out of the side, from seniors to VFL.

Bit of a bummer really, because there is clearly some talent there.

He just stagnated for whatever reason after showing some promise in his first 2 years.

Best of luck, and as others have said, thanks for probably our best "moment" in the last 20 or so years.

Hunt kicked 10 goals in 6 games including two key weeks where his goals v Blues and Bombers were crucial to getting us over the line. His goal rate was #1 in the team for 2020.   His goals were certainly not over the back goals.  In fact, he is one of the few who actually want to kick a goal and not handball. Deserved a two year extension and perhaps a fair-go in selections.  By comparison, Melksham kicked 15 goals from 17 games and got picked each week despite being out of form and not contributing.

You need to watch that Ess game again, 2 were over the back.

Im not as worried about his goal kicking as I am about pressure acts, tell me how many tackles he had in those two games. Il help you out, you only need one hand. And 7 all up from his 6 games.

If your playing as a small fwd thats not good enough. Especially for someone who has pace.  He is a good kick for goal but a horrible, horrible field kick.

Not bagging his goal kicking, but he is a back up,  im happy to be proven wrong and hope I am.  But his 7 years at AFL to me has shown where he is at.

Disappointed to see Hannan go after such a great start to his career but it's probably a good move for both him and the club. Best of luck Mitch!

  • Demonland changed the title to Farewell Mitch Hannan

Farewell Mitch Thanks  fir your Part in the last 4 years Hpe you can get a long run at it with the Bullies.

Thanks for the memory of 2018 Goal vs Cats will never forget that run and bounce !!!

Feels like a win-win to me. Next year's draft is meant to be quite strong and a future third is very much useable. Hannan is borderline best 22 for us, but will be a near lock in the Dogs' forwardline. With Bennell and Hannan out though, and Melksham getting older, I hope we target some forwards in this draft.

Travy14.  I don’t need the tape, I was at the game and remember two rippers.

Hunt kicked a beauty in the 1st running through from outside 50m to nail one on the run.

(I recall another long goal from outside 50).

Then in the last he used his pace to run and collect, burn opponents and goal in the last. Probably one of the more impressive team goals of the year.

I think he was the only one except Trac to kick 4 in a game for the year.

Started at the Bully's reserves  side and they were going to take him. We snuck in so I guess back where he belongs.

Good luck.

A good deal for MFC. I expected a current/future fourth rounder. The Bummers traded a future fourth-round pick for ‘two metre Peter’. I can’t see how Hannan is worth more than Wright.

He isn't.  Ess played a bit of dirty pool to get Wright cheaply and GCS blinked.

I feel a bit like I did when Jack Watts left. Totally understand and it all makes sense but I was still hoping he would find that next level.

Surely he was worth a mid first round pick.

Bloody MFC getting bent over again....

Happy if he does, as long as it's not against us!

Mitch has been a favorite of Simon Goodwin's & always received the benefit of the doubt during his time at the Dees. Good solid aggressive player who could sometimes impact the scoreboard, however, in my opinion, never got enough of the footy.

Wish him well at the Doggies.

seriously we cant extract full value for a deal. Future third rounder is nothing.

He couldn't hold down a spot in a side that didn't play finals.

What exactly do you think he should be worth?

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #32 Tom Sparrow

The rugged Sparrow’s career appears to have plateaued in recent years. He makes the side on a week to week basis but he is unable to establish a foothold in the team’s midfield and arguably performs best outside of the contest in a forward position without being a goal kicker. He remains a good honest foot soldier but is not a star.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #33 Tom Fullarton

Fullarton managed a couple of games in the first half of the season but soon found himself back in the VFL. There, he found a niche at centre half back but it was not enough to retain a place on the list at season’s end.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #35 Harrison Petty

Entering 2025, it looked as if Petty would be secured in a defensive position, but plans shifted and he spent more time forward, averaging just over a goal per game throughout the season. It remains uncertain which area of the ground he will be expected to cover under the new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The dynamic small forward, possessing an innate ability to generate excitement with his explosive play around the goals, successfully transitioned into a role that afforded him more time in the midfield. The club also negotiated a long-term deal with Pickett, thereby eliminating any prospect of a move west by their star young player.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #37 Kade Chandler

For a few years now, he has been a reliable, hard working pressure forward, but in 2025, Chandler elevated his performance, becoming an integral component of the team with enough versatility to play effectively on a wing from time to time.
