It’s official. You ripper!

From his profile on the Hawthorn website:

Adem Yze - Head of Match Day Strategy & Opposition
Yze was promoted to Assistant Coach at the end of 2014 after establishing himself as a respected teacher at Hawthorn.
Originally, Yze joined the Hawks at the end of 2011 as a specialist coach, working particularly with the forwards on their goal-kicking before being appointed as a Development Coach at the end of 2013.

Basically his specialties (kicking skills, kicking for goal, match day strategy) are our weaknesses. Fantastic get.

Yes I hope Goodwin finally listens to some one on the panel

If he doesn't he should be gone bigtime Makes you wonder what role Goodwin will play next year

I'm thrilled about this.  I have a feeling that Ooze will be an outstanding asset.  Thanks Chook in Perth for the early intel.  Reliable as always!

Delighted he is back!

Why does the press release say ' joined the Club’s coaching panel for the 2021 season'.  Just one year????

Same wording as the Burgess press release last year...

  • Demonland changed the title to Yze is a Demon Again

Very, very pleased with this appointment. ??

Fantastic news go Dees, now get Neita as goal kicking coach

Love Neita!  But he did not have a great kicking action and other than a few brief periods (96-96, 02?) he was not a reliable kick for goal.

Yawn.

Goodwin is the head coach.

Yze is an assistant. I think it is likely he will take on some of the match day strategy/analyst role that Craig Jennings had, but we havn't since filled. With the reduced soft cap, he may take an active role in skills as well.

“I’m really excited to be back at the Club but more importantly, I’m excited to be working alongside Goody (Simon Goodwin) and the coaching staff,” he told Melbourne Media.

“Goody and I have got a strong connection and I see us as a really good fit together."

What evidence do you have that Goodwin doesn't listen to the team around him?

What the club have said is true. Not sure the tenure is overly important, but no way it is for one year.

It may be all one year deals due to the uncertainty of the new soft cap.

It might also be related to the new short term pay put clause.

Obviously the 3 seconds of him talking to no-one on TV is proof enough for the clowns who believe it.

I know one of the assistant coaches  OK? Yawn Yawn I was responding to the post that identified match day coaching as a current weakness at the club see above.

My opinion is that it is a weakness and if YZE has the skills then that is a positive. Yawn!

The club's announcement states that Yze has completed the level 4 coaching course. Is that the highest level?

Yes.

At last we have an assistant who has completed the formal qualifications and has a lot of coaching experience, in a successful club.

He is more qualified than the rest of our 4-5 person coaching panel put together.  (Have excluded Goodwin for that comparison).

  • REPORT: Adelaide

The atmosphere at the Melbourne Football Club at the beginning of the season was aspirational following an injury-plagued year in 2024. Coach Simon Goodwin had lofty expectations with the return of key players, the anticipated improvement from a maturing group with a few years of experience under their belts, and some exceptional young talent also joining the ranks. All of that went by the wayside as the team failed to click into action early on. It rallied briefly with a new strategy but has fallen again with five more  consecutive defeats.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

  • PREGAME: Rd 18 vs North Melbourne

After four weeks on the road the Demons make their long awaited return to the MCG next Sunday to play in a classic late season dead rubber against the North Melbourne Kangaroos. Who comes in and who comes out?

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
