Ha ha sorry Mr Shadow I was having a joke. Being serious I agree 100%. For his long term future I hope no one takes him.

Yes I realised that Mr Old. Just thought I'd add more than a 'no'.

Hope you've recovered from the end of season and missing finals. I do agree with what you said earlier: for us it is simply a past time, for them it is a profession.

If he was affected by anything other than concussion it would be a resounding YES to throw him a rookie contract and see how he goes.

sadly for him, his career is done and dusted.

I'd say it's about $1.50 odds he signs at the Cats. His talent is very similar to Hawkins if he were to get it all together.

I wouldn't say no entirely but I'd just be really concerned that his diabetes hampered his fitness, which led to make errors in the way he attacked the ball, which led to him sustained far too many hits to the head. 10months training at home doesn't strike me as the best way to get on top of those issues.

He almost should be made to play in a local league and then a state league before returning to AFL.

His diabetes has not affected his fitness in any way.

It might not be any more to blame than Petracca’s love of mums home cooking but he’s certainly struggled to get to peak fitness. The extra diligence needed with diabetes doesn’t make it easy.

I know the immediate family, his diabetes has no effect on his fitness levels doc.

Lot's of examples of players with diabetes having good careers.  Dale Weightman, Jamie Cripps, Sam Reid (GWS) are three off the top of my head.  I doubt that would deter anyone from picking him up.  His fitness issues are not diabetes related.  I doubt he was professional enough in his training standards early on and then he got terribly unlucky with his head knocks. I do think a club will take a chance on him as a rookie.  I doubt it will be us.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if we had a crack at him, we would have watched him very closely as a junior as I think it's been said we would have taken him if the Saints didn't. He's a delisted free agent so we wouldn't need to trade and could put him on the minimum wage.

The irony if the Dees took a chance. But we should be mindful of KK experience and Lamumba.  It’s a very very unlikely scenario for him to get back and if he has a recurrence, Dees would be duty bound to manage his medical and mental well being. I’m a Pass on McCartin

Third time lucky perhaps...KK, Bennell and Paddy??

Key forward Paddy McCartin is ready, willing and able to return to the AFL.

With his recent concussion battle behind him, the 24-year-old says he is fit, motivated and better prepared than ever to again play AFL after spending two years on the sidelines recovering from concussion and regaining fitness.

A HUGE NO. His next head knock could be VERY DANGEROUS. For that reason alone the answer is NO!

Interesting point.

Knowing his history one wonders whether clubs could be reticent from a libel perspective.

Brayshaw's mother needed hypnotherapy to coke with the anxiety about him back playing after his concussion run.  McCartin's mother would have to be given opium every quarter time break if he was back on the field.

I like the club taking risks on players who may or may not succeed, but I can't embrace being responsible for that level of genuine risk at the more human level.

Agreed. It would be irresponsible and wrong of any club to give him an opportunity to permanently destroy his life. This stuff is no joke and that he wants to go again just shows me that he’s already had one too many head knocks.

I'm not so worried about the concussions. He's been cleared to play and feels good.

The problem is we haven't seen any evidence that he can play.

It's not a no from me but just an acknowledgement that it would really be a stab in the dark if we took him.

I'd prefer to take him than not, if all other tall forward options fall through. We absolutely have to recruit a mature key forward in this trade period.

Not according to him KD who I believe is in a much greater position to judge than you or I!!
Thank goodness for that and good luck with us or any team he aspires to join to attempt to regain his AFL career,

Must there be a thread for literally every possible player?

One day I fully expect to come on here and read the draft bio for me, and I’m 42.

Can you play? Might be worth a rookie spot.....

He needs to do a year in the VFL, get used to football again. Kick a few bags and get rookied or drafted in 2022. AFL will be too big a step.

Do we want him?

(I'd still rather have Charlie Dixon.)

We need another presence up forward and with it we can progress to the next stage.

Luke Jackson might be the go but I believe in power forwards.

Hasn't he retired due to concussions?

Could we recruit him so that he and KK could sit on the sidelines and talk about what could have been?

I presume that this post was misdated and came on April 1.

Who would you want Paddy who hasn't played for sometime now, would be too risky to take a chance with.

He was wearing a helmet I believe and had after effects.  He was looking to play in the near future. However if he copped a knock to the back of the head  when  contesting  it might do him more harm.

IMO not worth taking the chance.  You would get more value out of   an out of form Tmac than Paddy  McCartin.

We are not the Rehab / Charity club.    we can't afford to be..
