I’m really looking forward to Charlie Spargo continually providing an option as a lead up forward and our players kicking it long down the line to him, in the hope that at a whopping 5’6” he will pluck one against his 6 foot opponent. It’s one of Goodwin’s masterstrokes.

I am also looking forward to see how many quarters ANB will keep his mouth continuously open for. I swear to God, after football is done, he should get a job as one of those clowns tht you put the ping pong ball in the mouth of at Moomba.

Almost knocked over my cheese platter with that ANB commentry. ?

I agree Deever. Weids is at best a no.2. He doesn’t have the presence to lead the line.

We need to bring in a key forward. It’s our no.1 need. If Hogan is gettable I’d bring him back. Agree options are limited.

I’d worry if we leave Jackson in the forward line with an under-performing Weids alone. He needs to be taking the 3rd best defender. Allow him time to develop. Otherwise he’ll be added to the list of players whose development has been mismanaged by the club.

Just looked at our goal kicking list for 2018.

Its pretty damn good with tmac and hogan kicking around 40 each.

Melk...and Hannan chip in with quite a few( much more than this years average)

Garlett was handy as was anb believe it or not

Fritta and Trac on par.

Our forwards just havent been able to kick many this year.

Has there been a club media ban this week ? No podcast from Gawny or Talking Points interview from Benny G. Haven't noticed any radio interviews either.

Must be really steeling themselves for this must win game... the other weeks meh.

Possibly. Or there's only so much mileage you can get out of Ed Langdon and Arnott's Shapes.

Nice one PF. The town at the tip of that big point a little to the right of Speyside is where I grew up.

IMO, play like we did pre-Cairns, we win. Play like we did in Cairns, we will get belted.

No one should be checked out. A win tonight puts us in the 8 (if only for a night).

That is to protect Goodwin - there is no other reason. The media will wish to expose insights into our thoughts (the spectators and supporters) on his coaching record and its transference to onfield success and skilsets.

Very funny

I think we'll win, but (if we do) expect another ugly hard fought game.?

Our blokes have already checked out.

Hmmmm... sitting here in my abode in Europe with a raging hangover from last night. I thought it might be amusing to drink large quantities of grape juice from my latest vineyard find.

a small place in the Rhône valley to the north of Avignon called Domaine Rouge Bleu. They produce a Grenache called Lunatique. Seriously, how could I not consume vast amounts?

It's definitely not dead rubbery Andy and this is what I need to keep telling myself to pull myself out of the rut and snap out of it.

Also dead rubbery was the wrong term probably should have said lame duck game, for us.

How is it a lame duck game though? There's plenty to play for and we can still technically make it.

Why am I watching this? It’s only going to [censored] me off. Again.

Just to reiterate, I did have the words "I know it isn't" in my original post.

I wasn't actually making a debatable point either I was saying what it felt like for me. I'm not going to get into debates over what it feels like everyone else. Sorry but can't be stuffed.

Yes i am having similar pre game issues with this one P-man.  We are extremely hard to watch and any enjoyment is too often short lived

I have been asking myself the same question since 1966, once I was old enough to go to game by myself.  Pity i missed watching from 55-64,   bummer...

cannot see myself changing now !   Go Dees

  • GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

It's Game Day and the Demons are back on the road for their 3rd interstate game in 4 weeks as they face a fit and firing Crows at Adelaide Oval. With finals now out of our grasps what are you hoping from the Dees today?

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
