Brayshaw?

That handpass alone keeps him in the side for weeks

Langdon is a great two way runner and has had a really good season. He’s saved us getting back into defense when our other midfielders can’t be bothered. He deserves recognition.

Has been a brilliant recruit. As important to our structure as May and Lever. Three players who can’t kick good but play their role magnificently

I have officially given up on OMac.

I think Max might have more contested possessions than Gus, Clarry or Viney.

Midfield really needs to lift now.

Clarry has 10 contested possies.  They haven't necessarily been good ones, but there it is.

Gawn has had 9.  Viney and Gus 4 each.

May has been immense.

Not just today but pretty much all year.

A dead set one man fortresses, but also great to see him floating about delivering i50!

May - superstar!

Viney went to Steele for the second half of that quarter. Hard tag.

Good move

Goodwin made a move?

Did they become good friends on the flight over? The way they are kicking to the opposition is so precise.

Good to see OMac really imposing himself in the game in that last minute... ?‍♂️

Turnovers x3. Missed tackles x2

he is a ??????

We ground that quarter our but sometime to need to make it ugly. We have been killed at the clearance but outside of that the ball has just pinged 50 to 50. Time for Trac and co to start bursting from the stoppage and for players to show composure and take our chances. Come on Dees show us whether we are as fit as we think.

May and Petracca are almost embarrassing their teammates they are that far above any of them

Time for our much vaunted fitness to win this for us.

All of this yes except Trac who has kicked 3.

A real arm wrestle here, both teams are setting up well defensively (credit to Goody for that). This is going to be down to who takes their chances. Petracca’s goals have been huge but if we’re getting more from him as a forward/mid then Brayshaw and Clarry need to step up. Clarry in particular. Gus seemed to be getting more of it that quarter but not damaging enough.

Haven't seen Enough of Pickett and Spargo, they need to provide more forward pressure. Hannan has been poor. Oscar, I’ve been a defender of his but I don’t think I can cop him anymore.

Interestingly that last centre bounce we clearly got the tap but Clarry and Gus got in each other’s way. Is that bad communication or set up?

Our season hangs on this last quarter. Have we got the guts?

Some of the quieter guys need to stand up. It's amazing we've stayed in this with do many passengers!

Because we haven't allowed them to play their only game, which is run off half back.

We're not winning enough CP. I fear Hibberd down means we'll run out of steam. His attack off half back has been good.

Exactly, backline has down the job as always. Need a lot of players to lift though amd put the last few quarters behind them.

May's kicking is fine, Lever's is improving, so is Langdon's.

But yes, they (along with Hibberd) are standing out when so many others are struggling.

19-20 clearance count.

We have done well in 4th Quarters this year. Foot to the floor Demons

Great observation. If any team can run out a game this year the dees can. Statistically the best last 1/4 team over past 8 weeks

So far Brown nothing , bring back Tmac for rest of year enough this n that. Until LJ is back Tmac has the spot.

Hannan or Fritsch - not both.

Our mids are really really poor today. Nothing from Viney or Oliver. Saints always showed us up in the middle - I think they have had a psychological edge for a few years.

i reckon the flood gates will open this quarter we’ve held them at bay for as long as we can endure.

You can throw Langdon in there too.  He's been terrific.

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
