Preuss has not been on an injury list for some months.  That he has only played one scratch match can only be because we did not include him in our hubs until the last intake.  Then he had to do the two weeks compulsory quarantine away from the team hub so couldn't train or practice with the team.

Leaving Preuss behind knowing we would have a condensed fixture was optimistic and somewhat reckless.  If Preuss isn't ready to play or can't play out the game we have only ourselves to blame.

Surely Preuss plays?

It's going to be wet on Saturday.

No confidence in Preuss but short of playing T Mac in ruck and Brown up forward is there much choice

Its a big blow. the FD has to be creative here.. cant take Weid away from the fwd line, Tom did well around the ground.. it is something that has to be managed, even more reason to rest Gawn and make sure he is fit enough to play the season out.

Exactly what we didn't need. Kid was really starting to get a feel for AFL footy. I hope its not major and just some inflated journalism from TB.

If it is serious that really sucks for us. We need everything to go right this season if we want to play finals and have been pretty good with limited injuries.

Really hoping its not serious. We know how early injuries can really derail or prolong a young guns development.

Phark!

Surely Pruessy has to come in and run through Grundy.

Play pruess just at centre bounce and goal square, T Mac runs around with Grundy

I don’t rate Preuss. I’d bring in Brown and get TMac to ruck most of the day. Send Harmes in at stages and just try to shark off Grundy. It might even get Harmes going.

Let’s hope it’s only a minor hammy for Dogga

Just don't know about Preussy...I think he played a decent game a couple of years ago rucked all day when Max was out and we won - was it against Carlton?

Option 1

Preuss in

Preuss in the ruck

tmcd and Weid as key forwards

Option 2

Brown in

Tmcd in the ruck

Option 3

Brown and Preuss in

tmcd out

Preuss in the ruck

Brown and Weid as key forwards

it’s going to be wet so Preuss must be in. Physical contest. He’ll hit Grundy HARD

What if this was all gamesmanship from the club to keep the opposition guessing?

[censored] hell. 2020 needs to go get [censored] already.

Jebus. I was hoping for a 4th option.

It will be a much weakened team regardless. Preuss's last couple of games for us were very poor. His work around the ground almost non-existent

I would not be surprised at all if they get creative with the ruck situation rather than playing Preuss

I hate to say it but yet another poor decision?

And without banging the drum too much this is why it would have been prudent to rest Gawn for the crows and roos game

He was quite good rucking solo against Carlton last year.  I agree that he's pretty useless in tandem with Max, but that's not the mission here.

Jackson said to be a month, put him on ice I’d say.  No need to push the kid in his 1st year

If you believe reports from LN and LH Pruess probably doesn't get up SN.  Looking more likely to be option 2.  Brown kicked 5 in the flakey practice match so surely he gets a call up now and T-Mac continues in the ruck.  At least he can run with Grundy around the ground and might even do a bit of damage himself on occasions on the receive.

While it is not ideal to not have a proven ruckman up against Grundy I reckon our midfield is much better than theirs.

They have a rusty Sidebottom, a borderline fit Pendlebury (if he plays), Treloar out,  Hoskin- Eliot borderline fitn (if he plays)  which only leaves Taylor Adams.  Put Harmes or Viney onto him and our midfielders should beat theirs, even tho they have the ruck advantage.  Grundy isn't in great form anyway.

We have 6 day rest to their 3.5.

Their fwd line is suss at the moment.  Eliot coming in will help.  Stephenson and Milochek are out of form.

Still very optimistic about winning this.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
