Gawn in Doubt Against Kangaroos

Not sure how Preuss is travelling,  but I'd personally like to see us throw a combo of T Mac, Tomlinson and Jacko at Goldy and Daw.  I think it's a good oppertunity to run T Mac into some form.

They shouldn't change up the Weid in the ruck now that he's finally found some confidence form as a key forward and he's undersized for being an effective around the ground ruck the way he plays it really.

I would definitely not like to see Tommy Mac back...

Gawn in doubt for Goldy Showdown

Can’t  get past the paywall but not surprised. Smart move, rest him for game with Collingwood

The article just regurgitates what was said in Gawn’s post March interview and then suggests he’s in doubt for North. Doesn’t give any sort of hard fact or source for this speculation.

Call me crazy. But he's had the best half of his fledging career with potentially a rising star nomination....   He's 18, fit and bursting to play.... Sure he will def struggle in the cente but the number of taps seem rather inconsequential anyway. ...The opposition ruckman is an old man.... Lets roll the dice.....? Nah. Im crazy.

Ps. In the cheeky post match interview, max was already getting worried about his position.

Preuss would be a risk he hasnt played in eons and he has never had a big engine.  Always faded in the 2nd half of games.

Goldstein has been poor the last few weeks and is showing his age.  The tiny break wont be kind to him.

I reckon an LJ/Weid/Tomlinson ruck rotation will be fine this week.

If Preuss is alive and can even trot, as he knows Norf’s game and players strengths and weaknesses why not try him?

Moving Weed from FF would be counterproductive.

Jackson can take advantage of his youth and run them off their feet after half time.

Goldy, is experienced, tough and match fit. I wouldn't put LJ against him in centre bounces and risk injury. Obviously if Preuss is fit and they rest Max, Preuss comes in and I would instruct him to take every centre bounce, with LJ giving him a chop out on boundary throw ins, which are less dangerous. Remember LJ is still a kid and we don't need him getting injured from a flying knee at centre bounces.

Tell Pruess to punch the ball at ball ups. It would have to help us if we are aware of his intention and help his career. Even if he only plays 1st half at 90% because he gets cooked, it would be refreshing to see and Oliver and Brayshaw would pounce.

Noticed Daw was on the injury list with an 'ankle'. Anyone know how serious? If he's out I would feel better about Jackson and Tomlinson taking on Goldy.

If both Goldy and Daw are fit then yes probably best to put Preuss in. It does make us a fair bit less mobile which has been a strength for our bigs of late.

Either way both teams midfield will be sore after both playing physical games with a four day break

I can see the logic in playing Preuss if Gawn doesn't play. On the other hand, I suspect (but with no hard evidence), that the Match Committee wants to find a way to get Tom McDonald into the team. I wouldn't be surprised if T McDonald comes in and shares ruck duties with Jackson, each doing about half the game.

I think Tom is shot to be honest and its the same as AVB. Foot issues are pretty debilitating, lost all burst speed they had, and you just cant get enough flexibility to turn quickly.. sadly Tom is a straight line player now.. which does not bode well for him.

If max is rested, then Pruess must be a serious consideration if he is fit.. if not then i dont see any other alternative than its more jackson and even possibly a mobile Brown to assist?

Would rather bring in Mitch Brown than T Mac, who as you say is shot.  Lost all his athleticism.

Mitch would be hungry to impress.

I would honestly prefer see TMac put on ice for the year to give him one last crack at getting his foot right for the future.

Preuss is a solid back up ruckman, but it does make you nervous when he's only just re-joined the group and hasn't played anything like a real game for god knows how long.

yeah sadly i think he is.. he had a terrific 2018.. but it was not tracking that well in 2019 before his injury, he kicked 53.20 in 20 games in 2018 and in 2019 he kicked 18.15 in 15 games, including a bag of 6 against the blues,  i had my doubts whether or not he was the answer going fwd.. He has a great motor which is his strength, but at his best in 2018 he was leading up and back and jumping at balls.. he cant get off the ground now, no power in his launching foot. It might be a blessing..as we will get game into Jackson now, he is the future, he moves just as well as teh King boys and is better on teh ground and watching him on Wednesday night, he jumps at the footy and always hits the ground going fwd. Has early signs of being a really really good player.

Brown is expendable, he is sitting in teh wings not doing anything, he is a goer, he would love a chance.. he is a good footballer and we should use him when we can IMO.

Any word if Preuss is even fit? Didn't he have some knee issues?

Bring him in if so and get him to be as physical as possible with Goldy

This is a pretty big game and I expect us to win but it's no walkover and Roos love to play us

I'm super impressed with our backline so if they continue to play well we should be able to get over them. Not sure if Brown will be back or not

Teams announced today?

This is well said by Kane Cornes

https://www.sen.com.au/news/2020/08/07/cornes-adelaides-gawn-tactics-more-severe-and-aggressive-than-carlisle/

I seriously hope Mahoney and co have gone to the AFL to ask for a please explain. The fact that fat little spud in McHenry was able to get away with the dirty tactics was beyond the joke.

Reckon all of Maxy, Vines and Goldy are named and 5.15 Sunday we will know for sure who plays.

Daw's ankle looked bad at the time. Would say he is doubtful.

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
