Well done, young man. Star in the making, but gee it's a ridiculous award.

I reckon he is a good chance of winning it coz he just won it.

Loved seeing May at the end with the massage / back slap combo.

I hope that is the extent of the touching....

Jackson stands a chance though just a game. 2 goals. 8 possessions.  2 marks. 14 hits outs.

Well done Jacko.

Seriously... it was another step forward for Jackson, but he has a long way to go to be a Rising Star of the calibre of other nominees. They don't give the award on potential.

We all want him to be great, but he's not. Not yet, anyway.

Same goes for Kozzie. Three minutes of highlights. Looong way to go.

This aged well........... :)

Agreed - May is a fantastic leader, especially getting around the young guys.

You're just jealous you weren't there to ruffle his luxurious locks Bin.

His hair needs a lot of work. One day he’ll be old and he will have many regrets.

Well done to Jackson.

He is our first Rising Star nominee since....

Oscar McDonald in Round 21, 2016.

Don’t mention the war.

Well deserved for Jacko, he could’ve had 3 goals had Fritta not floated in front and pinch an uncontested mark from him!

Really looking forward to seeing him progress.

I reckon his chances are pretty good now they have announced it.

Your stealing E T s thunder.

Well done Jacko!

Where's @Mental Demons? Weren't you the one taking pot shots at Jackson for playing ahead of Tom McDonald the last few weeks because he couldn't take a contested mark? ?‍♂️?‍♂️

He'll be leading the award after he destroys Goldstein.

he's holding down chf and he's about to hold down starting ruck after, what, seven games?

i honestly was mighty surprised when he was the selection but he looks like he'll develop beautifully, injury permitting

smart player with a big frame and good skill

Luke Jackson is our future can play in  a number of positions that is why we picked him up with our pick 3.

Can play in the ruck can go forward and also play as a midfielder. Luke will become a dangerous player for the opposition  within the next couple of years. He has a great pair of hands can certainly take a mark and most of all for an 18 yo he looks composed and has no clumsiness in his game.

For a big boy he looks polished and will only improve with game time.

And like Clary he often has a smile on his face when you would see most footballers have a look of intense concentration. Obviously enjoying his footy

  • REPORT: Brisbane

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.

Just a game and percentage outside the Top 8, the Demons return to Melbourne to face the Sydney Swans at the MCG, with a golden opportunity to build on the momentum from toppling the reigning premiers on their own turf. Who comes in, and who makes way?
