If you look at Viney heโ€™s only really coming good this year even though technically his foot had healed last year. Hopefully another off season will help T-Mac as his best is very Good. Clearly needs strip a few kegs to start running his opponent into the ground again.ย

Who mightย be interested? Collingwood?ย

The article did suggest Collingwood as a possible suitor. Although it was stated that his contract would have to be spread out over 3-4 years due to their tight salary cap. Don't know how this works, but given that he will be 29 next year I cannot see that happening

Interesting one isn't it, used to dominate time trials etc now seems a different player.

If he's hampered by injury - bit of a concern that Burgess and team haven't been able to come up with an apparent solution.

If he's bulked up too much and that's led to reduced mobility etc, surely they would he detected this at the start of the year. Reminds me of when Lukaku bulked up too much for the WC in 2018, got back to his club side and struggled with form as he had lost that bit of pace etc.ย

If he's a confidence/form player then the lack of adequate 'reserves' comp won't help him get into it.

Uncertain of a trade, still could play a role in some description IF body can be sorted.ย

It's not a question of talent. It's a question of his ability to produce AFL-level football right now. Whether that's a prolonged form slump or injury/fitness, and it could well be the latter, the reality is he's not currently able to produce good enough football. But that's not for want of trying.

Seems ludicrous to me that youโ€™d ask a player to put on 10kg who has been hampered by foot injuries.ย

I've seen this 10kg thing a lot.

Is there any evidence at all to support it?

Is there anyone on Demonland who claims to have a source who has said this?

Or is it just a rumour with no real base to it?

Shortย memory !!

Think of Tommy'sย ย 2018 season no lack of pace opened up on the wing on occasions.

Burgess needs to have a look and see why he can do I feel unless his body is totally wrecked.

Unfortunately we are in 2020 mate. Don't see how a player can be rated from performances 2 years ago. If that were the case, Bernie Vinceย would still be on an AFL list

He did well on Papley, od

Yes, he did well on Papley and that cannot really be sneezed at - matched him step for step, spoiled, tackled - what more could one ask of a forward mis-placed on the backline by the coach - out of position, out of familiarity, out of kilter. Across the field, it is time for change and common sense - factors not necessarily applied by He Who Knows Best.

I called it earlier on in the year that he's either carring an injury or finished, these revelations that he's put on 10kgs are insane.

Especially considering he's had a fractured/complete break in his metatarsal last year.

Probably carrying lingering foot issues.

Still probably the best set shot in the side

Doesn't help that we have no idea how to deliver to his advantage or that we let him get double/triple teamed. 9 out of 10 inside 50 entries are blindly long bombed, been like that for 3 years. Not to mention 4 of his team mates flying comically for every unrealisticย mark

Like Viney, I wouldn't blame him for going to a top 4 side that knows how to use his skill set rather than force him to battle against 3 guys and push [censored] up a hill every week

The team would be better if we had a Trac on every line, not just the two.

Is the other one a previously unknown identical twin?

i would like to see the actual quote where he says that the club asked him to put on 10kg for this season - i had never heard that before recent revelations on this forum

agree with everyone that it makes zero sense in the context of what sort of player he has been at his best, how modern football is played, and his injury history

Just goes to show how quickly an unsubstantiated rumour can gather legs and become gospel.

Sadly jr I have been hearing thatย  for way too many years. I am hoping for finals next after substantial changes in FD changes in October.

I know we shouldn't pay too much attention to some ex-player pundits, but that's quite a shift over the course of a shortened season

It was stated as fact by a poster around the time of the blues game.

The poster'sย name escapes me and i don't recall them posting for some time (though was prolific poster at that point).

We had a number of back and forth posts about it as in the immortal of Sy Richardson's character, Lite, from Repo Man 'I called [censored] on that'.

As if the club in this day and age would ask an alreadyย big, 27ย year old powerย forward to put on 10kgs to play deep full forward (which as i pointed out to said poster they didn't even play him in thta position agnst the blues, or subsequently as it has turned out).ย

The fact was the post just contained crap.

Was mentioned in one of the Fox segments that he might be a worthย a late second rounder to a club looking forย a key defender. Would be taking that andย running at full pelt.

Apparently he was told to gain 10kg to be able to play full forward and bust packs apart. Big mistake. Now he canโ€™t run!

I don't believe this 10kg thing. He's the same size he was in 2018.ย

Why would we slim down Steve May to as thin as he's ever been and bulk Tom up?

If anything Tom might be better off adding a bit of muscle to help him turn and play with power, but there's no way it was or ever will be 10kg

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kateโ€™s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwoodโ€™s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isnโ€™t a standard conceptโ€”itโ€™s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasnโ€™t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's ย six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his teamโ€™s unfulfilled potential rang true โ€ฆ well, almost.ย
