2 things (under 12 sort of stuff);

- make it look like you’re trying to get rid

of the ball in a tackle, even if you’re not

- when you take a mark or free kick, get back far enough so you can kick the ball easily over the man on the mark’s head.

Holding the ball only applies to one side it seems.

Weid had been good apart from goal kicking

Absolutely.  He's beaten Andrews a few times already.  Just needs to kick the goals, but very happy with his output so far.

Jetta looks concussed, hope it's not that and it's minor.

We started poorly but settled and our defence of the ground improved. They've only scored from a turnover and a free, we're otherwise doing well to limit their scoring.

Up the other end we're doing a lot right but Weid's two misses are frustrating. He should have 2 goals and we should be 1-2 goals up.

Weid, Jackson, Hannan and Melksham all looking dangerous. Jones looks a step off the pace, hope he picks that up soon.

Embarrassing wasn't it?

How many decades have they got this wrong. It’s embarrassing and frankly it’s a little bit racist.

Jones looks like a deep depth VFL player.

Brisbane is very flash in the pan. Put a body on them and the link is broken. Extremely beatable.

Also there was a blatant HTB in our forward pocket where Neale/Rayner (can't recall who) was spun in a tackle and threw it out.

When those aren't paid, and then the Harmes one is paid, it gets frustrating.

Our forwards are working hard, just need to capitalise.

Mids doing a good jobs. Oliver's kicking is nearly costing us.

Cmon boys! We got this.

Would love to get a goal in a manner other than off-the-ground-in-the-middle-of-the-goalsquare style, but I'll take being level right now.

Weideman and Oscar McDonald giving us a great deal of structure. Weid needs to figure out how to kick a ball straight when it's dewey.

Jackson will be some player. I thought he would show nothing this year, but the fact that he's doing everything he's doing with so few games and so far off his ideal body shape gives me a lot of faith he'll be an amazing, one-of-a-kind type player over the journey. A true "every position" player.

That white goalpost looks racist to me

I was yelling at my screen and scared my daughter with that one in our pocket.  Then Harmes gets pinged and it's all over.

Both teams had chances and both would feel like they could’ve got better reward for opportunities.

Weid is taking grabs which is a plus but bugger me that miss was god awful. I hope there’s someone giving him pointers on what he’s doing wrong. Can’t be coughing up opportunities like that.

Clayton’s kicking is becoming a liability. Twice he butchered it to give them an inside 50.

Anticipating an "honourable loss" here. They have too many players who make you pay when the mistakes come - and we still make plenty of mistakes.

Still, can't question endeavour, and setting up well.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
