That goal to Ellis was a disgrace of umpiring. It wasn't a push in the back (Ellis diving), it wasn't a high tackle on Rankine either.

Still, main issues are ours, not umpiring. Still too many inside 50s which don't go to our advantage and too much time spent in forward half without scoring.

We are supremely frustrating to watch, yet we're in front.  I have no idea how that works or why it has happened.

We will need to kick at least 3-4 goals to win this with the way GC are kicking them from everywhere.

I’m obviously missing something. How is is that Melksham gets a game?

I don't think I have watched more goals pulled from a rear end than I have tonight.

Umps super soft there.

Agree. Suns have 4 goals from no look snaps

umps gifting it

plus Trac is playing dumb. Never goes back and settles to get the right kick. FFS WILL THE COACH TELL HIM.

Melksham is taking the [censored] with his lack of forward pressure.
Our ball use is just so bad. It’s really hard to watch.

I'm calling it now - some sort of ridiculous mistake, umpiring decision etc. will decide this game for one side.

Umpires having too big an influence now. Well bloodywell give it our way.

Most of the bad decisions have been non-decisions which there is no stat for.

I more mean that they will pull one out in the last minute which will result in the winning score and either have us really angry or just a little bit angry.

the minute weideman stops running under the footy will be the minute he starts taking more marks.

A few times i felt he has been nudged under it a touch perhaps?

Melksham's head taken off.

Head taken off, then legged in the same contest - nothing.

Meanwhile Langdon tackles Rankine cleanly and the umpire calls high contacts.

I thought the push in the back was there, but high contact against Rankine was rubbish.

Maybe, but it seems like a very light touch launches him forward like Lockett smashed him in the back

Honest to God, our ability to self-destruct attacking opportunities is like nothing I’ve ever EVER seen, often hilarious and sometimes spectacular. If it weren’t so hair-pullingly frustrating, it would be hilarious. Neutral supporters must have a whale of a time watching us [censored] it up so reliably.

It's an even money game and to be honest it was always going to be. Massive last quarter. Keep on top in contested ball

Great game but. I thought we've been quite good.

Get the hell out of here Stigga, no need for that kind of optimism around these parts.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
