GAMEDAY: Rd 06 v Gold Coast

Featured Replies

Hannan has been harassing the Gold Coast defenders for mine. It doesn't get counted as a tackle, but it's important all the same.

Melksham doesn't do ANY of this. He needs to go.

AVB was magnificent. WTF are you talking about.

Has done very little

commentators talking about Weids poor body positioning. Scratching my head about what he's been learning since he entered the system.  Anyway..maybe the goal will kick start him. He has that  onfield lost feeling about him which never fills me with confidence.

His disposal isn't great but I love his running. Always runs forward to provide an option after dishing it off.

Too many passengers.. we are dominating but these passengers are stopping us from killing them . Lockhart melksham avb brayshaw lever jetta hibberd hannan pickett

Hannah, AVB and Melksham need to lift.

Melksham puts in another stinker then surely he is on the chopping block.

Haven't read any of this thread so if already said I missed it.

It'll probably been an unpopular opinion/observation, but does anyone else think Bennell plays like he doesn't want contact? He had a couple of chances to go hard but pulled back. Also when tackling he just sticks his arms out rather than fully commit with body and they run right through him.

Yes I'm sure I'll get given a list of names who have their own moments of poor play. I've just been particularly focussed on Bennell this game.

Interesting one Wellsy, I thnk he is always about 1-2m too forward to mark it... unless it's zinging in at chin height.

But... I kicked a ball for the first time in a couple of years with my 4.5 yo and some mates this morning, and found I was always dropping the kick about 2m short... I have done that fairly consistently since I played juniors... maybe it's a spatial thing and cannot actually be coached out of him.

What I mean is - he knows intellectually what to do, but neurologically, it just 'feels' better the way he is doing it at the time...

anyway...some drunkn thoughts.

He's been in the right spots spilled a few but had definately straightned us up

@binman currently frothing at the mouth at O Mac's first half.

Just a standard OMac game.

And by the by i wouldn't mind revisit the discussion of who is better kick Trac or Omac!

Melks needs to put in or else he's out.

Strong second Q. 4 goals to 2. we've turned the game around somewhat.

Langdon been good. Viney better. keep up the pressure of that second Q and we should win

Have noticed it, but willing to let is slide considering he is the only player that can pick the ball up cleanly.

have seen this and it'll come - but he's also being more defensive in terms of blocks and a few more team things

don't need him laying big tackles (I'm sure it'll come with time), right now we need his class and skills - which is building

but i certainly get what you mean, he's being cautious and wants some outside ball

  • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
