I understand his kicking woes but I love Joe.

Huge talent and a quality person.

Would absolutely love to see him in a Dees jumper.

Goal kicking woes. His field kicking is otherwise elite. Long, low, quick and finding targets.

Never seen a team run on Adrenalin like TWSNBN does....

Why bother with him, when we have a developing forward in wiedemen and as he matures will be better than joe the goose it just takes time for the big blokes to grow into their bodies.Think Hawkins ,but dont think he is that good to be honest

What will another injury do to that?

The same reason the tigers spent big on Lynch when they already had Riewoldt - 2 gun tall forwards are better than 1. If Daniher was available, he'd be replacing TMac, not Weideman.

Injuries are a concern, but it's not as though he's coming back from his third ACL - plenty of players have successfully returned after missing long stints with OP.

He'd be expensive, he'd be a risk and we'd need to deal with Essendon at the trade table. All are very good reasons to walk away, but I still think it'd be worth asking the question.

Tbf many commenters were discussing Daniher after our WCE loss when Jackson did not look anywhere near ready and Tmac was in the side and not Weid for the first 5 or so matches.

Our forward line looks much better now with Weid kicking 2 goals a game and Jackson settling into his role.

Still would be nice to add another capable forward. If not Daniher, then someone like a Matt Taberner, who's having a great year with Freo.

Anyone with any sense won't come to our club unless they get the enticing deal like a few others got. I'll take anyone at the moment, how can we be picky.

I rate Jackson, and he's certainly shown some nice signs, but realistically I think he's probably at least 3 years away from providing more than the odd cameo up forward. In any case, one of his biggest strengths is his versatility - I don't think it'd be a problem playing Jackson, Daniher, Weideman and Gawn in the same team (on the rare occasions all of them were fit). West Coast manage to play all of NicNat, Darling, Kennedy and Allen.

It's probably a moot point anyway - we're better set for key position players than most teams, and others will no doubt pay a higher price.

It would be super fun to have Daniher grabbing marks and turning round and delivering scything daisy cutter incendiary kicks to Weidemen.

apoplexy at windy hill and vic park

what’s not to like.

I’m a fan of us going after Daniher, I think him and Weid would make a potent combo of forwards but do we have the coin available to get him?

It depends on three things for me:

1) do our medical staff think his body's stuffed or do they believe his body will hold up?

2) the cost in money terms and years of contract.

3) whether he'd even come to Melbourne. I have a feeling we'd be a better proposition than Sydney...

Doesn't quite align for me. The 3 M's scare me. Money, medical history, metallity. Unless we shipped T-mac off somewhere, I'd prefer to focus on getting him right to be honest.

Dont get lets just stick with 2 quality forwards.

Last week we were worried 3 of our ruck options were out.

Injuries are a huge factor in the moden game and its smart to be able to cover them.

Yeah, I think it's all about our medical staff tbh.  We could juggle things to afford him, given the number of players off contract for us.

If Burgess is comfortable, then we move forward.  I agree with earlier posts that Jacko will take some time to be consistently impactful, and by then he'll be increasing his time in the ruck/on ball division. Weid is stil maturing and could use a mature no.1 key forward alongside him. Sadly looks like Tommy Mc can't be that player.

There's a fair amount of talk that Daniher's injury has been managed poorly (by both medical staff & player), and that has caused the frustration between Joe & Essendon. Makes Burgess a significant selling point. Not sure how much of a selling point they are, but if he has positive relationships with the Essendon connections currently at the club, that could be beneficial as he'd at least have some familiar faces already here. Maybe we could get Neale in his ear as well.  Would be kind of neat to have a Daniher on field at the next Big Freeze.

It makes too much sense for me, especially if we miss on Williams, may as well address another area of need. Our list profile should have us in the window, we may as well swing for it.

Don't be surprised to see Brisbane swoop in. Perfect fit for Daniher and have the right medical team behind them.

Makes a whole lot of sense for Brisbane too. There’s chatter around them going for Dixon as well, so very keen to get a big key forward in. They’re swinging for the fences too!

There is nothing in the AFL like Daniher at his best IMO. There is obviously a good chance he gets injured. And he is inconsistent. But I like the idea of him playing for us because he doesn’t need great delivery. If he finishes the year fit, it’s worth the risk.

11 games in 3 years.

Simply irresponsible to sign him to a long term high dollar contract even as an FA when his record shows long periods of unavailability. And he is a Restricted Free Agent  so Bombers can match a responsible contract offer.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
