Geez I hate seeing a full-time score 44 to 47. It's like it's 1870.

Even though big decent KPF's do not influence games like they used to,  you've still got to have them.

So if we had 2 decent key forwards who can play the position well,  we'd probably be a top 4 team.  Play in front,  take a grab,  occupy the hot spot,  absorb punishment and average 2 or 3 goals.

We don't have 1 player of that ilk on the list and the only 1 who goes remotely close (T-Mac) gets double-teamed every week. 

Any 2 of Lyon,  Schwarz,  Robbo,  Jakovich,  Bennett,  Williams,  Spalding or Neitz and we'd be a threat.

Weideman will get a chance or 2 but he's still got a lot to learn.  Brown is a back-up 3rd forward type and Jackson is too young right now to play the role. 

If 1 of the aforementioned 8 players had have played today we would have won.

e.g ... one passage of play saw Gawn tap to Viney who gave it off to Gus who then kicked long to Fritsch in a 1 on 1.  Fritsch's defender then smashed the ball towards the boundary line and safety.

A big bodied KPF (with talent) positions his body more so in the hot spot,  takes the punishment and takes the mark or brings the ball to ground where the front & centre types swoop. 

The team looked underdone. Surprise, surprise. Let's face it, this coronavirus has killed off the season. Cancelled games, postponed games, whatever. And we still have people who don't take the pandemic seriously. Football is dying. The standard is terrible. The AFL is trying to fashion a silk purse out of a pig's ear.

I'd like to see a little more fire and brimstone, sometimes it feels a little to millenial the coaching. Also I don't think he would naturally be like that, his style seems a bit forced and without passion, I want passion from the coach too.

Lever this season or ever? The problem with a loss is all the flaws just seem like one big issue an inch from your nose. Breathe in your own time, take a step back and look a little more calmly. Lever has for instance shown he is capable of playing...

Call it early, call it midway or call it late. There are problems with this Coach and playing group.

All I ever hear from Melbourne fans is how good Lever was in that game in Alice. Time to wake up, he's turning into a flop. I don't need to re-watch one game where he played well to justify his price tag I need to see consistency over a prolonged period and simple chest marks held. We're approaching the 2 year mark of his knee injury it's time to let that one go as well.

Don’t disagree...results & quality are on display in most games. Different teams are responded better as are connecting better than others training in seperate groups & different game plans are working better. The question is our game plan is it working to suit the length of game? The current circumstances? The ability of coaches to adapt ..Iam afraid Goodwin is failing thus far

One game does not justify how poor he's been.

Im sure if you made a highlights package of Joel Smith it would look similar to it. He's an average player who was a big mistake to recruit let alone give away 2 first rounders for 

Geelong owned us for most of the game though a man short. They relaxed in the last ten minutes with their 16 point lead which is huge in such a low scoring game. They controlled the tempo like a well tuned Swiss chronograph whilst we flopped about like a broken clock that’s right only twice a day. We were lucky to get so close.

Yeah so I'm trying to think of what to even say about the game today and I'm just coming up short. I got very little. I don't even know what the issue is but the gameplan does not appear to be one that is working. I just heard Lever's post game interview and he believes in the system and says when it's up and running can bring about some great football, I appreciate his sentiment rhetoric or not but seriously how much banging the head against the wall do we need to go though? Ball gets kicked into 50, no marking option, hits deck, can we keep it in thereeeee?? No we can't, out it comes, moment gone. That piece of play from Kozzie to keep it in and kick it back to Melk in the square was incredible and deserved a goal how did we squander it? So many deflating moments like that.

Our midfield has become slow and boring, everyone works hard but nothing happens. Handballs are poorly timed and go to the wrong person or just miss the person altogether. The Cats matched us in contested footy for most of the day. 105 uncontested marks to 46, Geelong chipping sideways and making us run around and get tired. WHAT IS THE PLAN FOR THIS? Because it seems like continuously playing it into their hands was all we felt like doing. Outcoached again Goodwin. 

Few good performers, I would say the majority of our side were 5 out of 10s. Clarry continues to work hard but isn't playing the smartest footy right now, VIney doing his usual bull like 20 odd touches and not really effecting anything. Kozzie was a shining light and gets you excited when he's simply around the contest and Lockhart might have made some mistakes but I'd prefer to see him out there than others. Hannan just doesn't do enough for me, in and out of games too often. In the past we've loved him because he'd have games like this and bob up and kick 2 in the last to gloss the reality of his performance but he's just not that good in reality.

I will give a little leniency, 1 game in 13 weeks is not easy. Yes I will give it some time, but my god if I see another performance like that after a solid 4 week block then well yeah. 

Get it together.

Can see 1-5 after we lose to Swans, Freo & Dogs....

When I saw the inclusions I thought the plan would have been to provide defensive pressure to lock the ball into our forward line,?

Instead we see the ball chipped around to loose Geelong players. It is hard to judge our backline when they are exposed so easily by the lack of upfield pressure. In other games I was frustrated that our forwards were not in the forward line.I can only hope that we are "rusty" and that at the end of this season we will see what our side can do.

Seriously, If I was Goodwin I would resign in shame - if not after that game, then after comments like the above.

It's the stock standard way to beat melbourne. We all know it, the rest of the league know it but our genius coach hasn't yet worked it out.

Holy cow. Anyone that was wavering about Goodwin's ability to coach look no further than the two lines above.
