Winner of Freo/Suns and they play soon.

Would think it is Freo.

Here's hoping for a Suns upset!

No it is Freo or GC. I must say I am so proud of the girls who showed guts to come back the way they did.

It's definitely the winner of the Freo v Suns match

Wow!  I think I just witnessed a resurrection?

Newman's pressure and tackling were excellent in that last quarter. A lot of kudos for the comeback should be awarded to her.

'True Boot' Lill was great all day.  Grit, courage and a never say die attitude .......  oh, and a celebration to bring a tear to an old fart's eye.

That was a great game to watch. Nice comeback by the girls. Lily was so composed to kick the sealer. Not a bad effort considering she hadn't kicked a goal before. Finished off with 2. Now to the prelim

Great example of never give in.

There’s a nice little clip of the boys watching the last seconds of the game. Having trouble posting it, it’s definitely worth a look if you haven’t seen it.

Looks like we are playing Freo

Finally finished watching the game.  GWS played much better for the majority of the game, really hunted the ball.  But a great last quarter of attacking footy got us the win.  Pearce said after the game they were swathing between two types of play, defensive and offensive and never settled on one until the last quarter.  Hopefully they sort that out for next week in their mind and team strategy.

Watched the whole game. They controlled the game for 3 quarters until we just came alive in the last.

Nothing but a brilliant and gallant effort by the girls! Mithen and Tex Perkins kicked crucial clutch goals.

The roar from the girls when Mithen kicked that goal in the last was simply amazing to hear! Well done girls!!

Oh, and Nigel Carmody is a bloody good commentator! He [censored] all over the likes of Basil and Hamish.

Really great gutsy win. Insightful comment by Daisy post match when she said they couldn’t make up their minds about being offensive or defensive until the last quarter when they had no choice. A lesson learnt hopefully. I think that could be ssid about much of the season.Hopefully it will be all out attack in the semi. By the way isn’t Harriet Cordner a smart footballer. Does some really clever things when it comes to the crunch...

so we play freo over here

I'll give it a go because it's a great example of our "one club" spirit. This kind of thing is so important to a strong culture and we all need to support each other, especially at the moment.

Also we must identify the player who said "she won't make the distance" so Lily can tell them what for! Just kidding, it was a tough kick and I'm sure few were confident!

As for the game, well, wow. We didn't give the greatest account of ourselves in the first three and a half quarters, looking very disjointed up forward and loose in defense (Missing Lampard and Downie, plus the speed of the Irish).

But what we did have is the one thing this team has had in spades since day 1. They never give up. It doesn't always come off, often they leave it too late or shoot themselves in the foot with conversion. But they just keep going. That's what I want above all else in a footy team so even if we got lucky, I was very proud.

Perko - let's keep her, Daisy - immense, Scott's marking and second efforts kept us in it. O'Dea (Junior) was just willing us over the line and you could see on the bench after Lily's goal that she knew it wasn't over yet - focused. Newman worked hard and played selflessly. Heath and L.Pearce did well to last the distance on their return and were important. Obligatory mention of Paxman, of course. Hore found ways to get involved despite being well held at times. Cordner made some mistakes but also had some important touches.

Special mention to Sherriff who's quietly gone about a great debut season- I've wanted to mention her every week but keeps slipping from mind!

My favourite part of the game review? Injuries: Nil.

Shout out to (just some!) of the injured at home and to McEvoy and Goldie who were probably stuck in an airport somewhere on the way home to Ireland.

Petrevski, a debut to remember. Hopefully her cousin can celebrate similarly tomorrow!

Next week? Let's just get through tomorrow. And then Monday. It's a long time away.

That’s truly excellent. Love the one club mentality and the old ‘bleeds red and blue’ cliche sits well with James Harmes.

Versus Freo prob next Sat at Freo.

Perkins virtually won the game for the Demons.  When we were still 2 goals down, she was the one rucking and burrowing in and tackling to keep the ball in the forward line, while unfortunately, others stood around and watched.

Birch was the saviour in the backline, and I really fear what a high scoring side like Freo will do to us, with McEvoy and Goldrick not around to help her out.  There were a couple of GWS goals that simply would not have happened should Goldrick in particular have been playing.

  • PREVIEW: Sydney

The two teams competing at the MCG on Sunday afternoon have each traversed a long and arduous path since their previous encounter on a sweltering March evening in Sydney a season and a half ago. Both experienced periods of success at various times last year. The Demons ran out of steam in midseason while the Swans went on to narrowly miss the ultimate prize in the sport. Now, they find themselves outside of finals contention as the season approaches the halfway mark. The winner this week will remain in contact with the leading pack, while the loser may well find itself on a precipice, staring into the abyss. The current season has presented numerous challenges for most clubs, particularly those positioned in the middle tier. The Essendon experience in suffering a significant 91-point loss to the Bulldogs, just one week after defeating the Swans, may not be typical, but it illustrates the unpredictability of outcomes under the league’s present set up.

  • REPORT: Brisbane

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.

  • PREGAME: Sydney

Just a game and percentage outside the Top 8, the Demons return to Melbourne to face the Sydney Swans at the MCG, with a golden opportunity to build on the momentum from toppling the reigning premiers on their own turf. Who comes in, and who makes way?
