Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The game must get pretty tiresome if you live in it with that amount of detail as shown with so many coaches and reviews and meetings and rules about where you should be once the ball is turned over at point A, etc.

As much as I love it I think that would ruin it for me.

Yes, it's easy to see why guys like Chunk say they just want to enjoy playing footy again. It's a micro managed game these days.

Sensational production all round by the club. They really nailed everything about it, most importantly the tone of the series. Wasn't too focused on rehashing the negative but didn't overdo the forward looking focus either.

Might be too much during the busyness of the season, but would be great to see a mini-doco, about the length of one of these episodes, every month or so, perhaps focusing on a certain player. It'd be great for fan engagement and may even help reduce some of the personal vitriol that gets thrown at players during the year on social media.

Anyways, congrats to all involved in putting it together.

Jack looked [censored] lol

Well, it’s got to be a bitter pill to swallow, and it would definitely be a blow to the ego to find out in front of everyone that he wasn’t their number one. It also shows just how much he wants it and hopefully that will drive him on to bigger and better things. I did like the way that Goodwin handled what must have been a very awkward situation...even Max looked a little uncomfortable.

Should start with saying that I have really enjoyed the doco series, great insights.

maybe after 2019 like many fans I am searching for answers and so over thinking things but I thought there was some telling signs about a huge divide in 2019.

very clear comments from Goodwin about players getting behind Viney to give him the chance to lead the best he can. Awkward for Viney no doubt to be in this situation - visibly uncomfortable. Followed up with Max noting that they don’t always see eye to eye. Again I realize I’m probably trying to find anything to explain what the hell happened last year but interesting choices of words none the less.

All l am focused on is seeing Melbourne stepping in the the right direction. They have made the necessary changes and the new skipper sits well with me. Max and Jack are our prime leaders with the best of support behind them.

I sense the readiness from the guys as round 1 can't come quick enough for them. Good times ahead.

Good stuff.

The focus in the meetings on the enjoyment the players got from being -60 in possessions in a low-scoring practice match is good to see IMO.

Do you mean the camera angles (with the behind the goals camera from the North game)?

I'm pretty sure there was a drone flying above during the game. I assumed it was Norths because it was their home ground. Must have been ours.

That is a really good comment. So many people are mislead by " media editing" (no offence meant to the ABC)

When I first worked in the Newsroom i was taught very early to let a shot run long and then decide whether to trim it back or not, because body language or a final word could change everything, and once it was put to air that was how it would be remembered...

It must be hard to go from a see ball get ball kid to have every moment analysed in slo mo.
One of the things I love about this game is seeing shy 18 year olds turn into confident 25 year olds. The kid with pimples and a squeaky voice becoming a man and at home with cameras, stupid questions and having to front up on footy shows.
I think the Koz show will be an interesting journey to watch, just for that reason

They would have been told before, and asked if they wanted the jobs, surely?  The reveal was for everyone else.

By “they”, if you mean Max and Jack, then yes, you may be right... but the reveal to the rest is still going to be painful.

I'd never heard Viney called "Vin" until last night.

I noticed it at training a few years ago... players were calling “Vinnie, Vinnie, Vinnie”, and I assumed it was for Bernie Vince, but he was nowhere near that action...there was just Viney.

The episode with Kozzie on the beach with the gruelling training day was the best one I reckon, well done to the club for doing this documentary. And well done to the cinematographers and all involved with it, very professionally made.

It's got me pumped for the real thing now, can't wait to see Maxy lead them out there for round one!

Confirms yet again that the coaches watch a different game to us.

Yeh was really interested in the off the ball zoning work filling up escape space that Plapp went through with Kossie. There would obviously never be footage of that on a broadcast and I doubt most of us would pick it up even if there was.

Obviously heavily edited so you never know the full story but just a couple of things I would’ve preffered to see:

Instead of Goodwin saying Viney needs your feedback I would’ve liked him to say Viney needs your love. He needs players to rally around him.

And instead of Gawn being praised as an on field leader I’d like to see him praised for what he does off the field. One man can only do so much in the 2 hours on field. Building the culture off the field is far more important.

The feedback after the North game was the best bit of the episode. Great positive reinforcement.

I wasn’t too worried about that stuff with Kozzie. Good teams are always defensively organised and communicating. Get everyone in the right spots and it becomes second nature and guys can then still play on instinct.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
