Enjoyed the win like everyone else. Positive signs and we looked fit which was most pleasing (aside from Petracca’s outrageous performance!)

Just a little mindful though that Sloane and Laird didn’t play the second half and Gibbs missed the last qtr.

Gibbs missing the last quarter is a positive for Adelaide.  Their supporters want him gone ASAP

We blew off the cobwebs after half time then we rode them to the ground. Great for the boys and our supporters. I know it is early but the signs are positive. They look fit which was one of our biggest downfall in 2019. 

Petracca is a gun he really is. He cranked it up half way into the season last year and was one of a few positives and now he has taken it the next step and he means business . I know it is early to say but you can sense it.

Its a practice match !    However   are you not glad that we barrack for the Demons rather than the cats  Go Dees

At first, I couldn’t see why we were after Tomlinson to play on the wing, as he doesn’t have the speed  of a Langdon. But remembering his finals series for GWS, I realised that we had picked him up largely for his intercept ability. We lost out so often on rebound 50s last season, because we had no one to take a grab on the wing, we were constantly outmarked each week. Hopefully with Tomlinson, our set up to rebound after an opposition clearance will be much improved this year.

I did not see the game but I reckon from what I have read some are being a bit harsh on the Weid.  Pressed into service as a ruckman is not an easy gig and it appears he held his own. Some reports suggest he was at worst equal to the Crows ruckman. I have been critical of him but appears he did the job yesterday. Let's judge him as a forward when plays there.

Best sign was the turnovers we created in the forward half. That’s a return to what made us so dangerous in 2018.

And I have always thought that players like Petracca and Martin are so damaging because they can win contested footy but have the strength and talent to escape or power through the contest and get the ball well forward. 27 CPs and 645 metres gained is mouth watering.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but Crouch was largely stationary and the bulk of the force of the contract came from Clarry, who definitely turned towards Crouch to block (the correct thing to do after giving a handball).

However Crouch's elbow came up, and to me that's what makes him culpable.

So I think 1 week because that rule was careless, but otherwise it should have been nothing. 

For context,  I also think May's should have been nothing, because I don't think made an action towards the head of Berry.

Just watched. Pretty pleasing, particularly (not even gonna mention CP5) the workrate and fitness, the performance of all the newbies, and of those we hardly saw last year. Kosi is super exciting, Langdon the running link we needed, Tomlinson all class (reading the play, decision making and outstanding disposal). Mitch Brown surprising. Vanders a welcome sight, Melksham also, Spargo worked his [censored] off, as did Weid and Lockhart (and yes, they all played well), Sparrow will be a core player in the future, hello Jake Lever, and Nathan Jones ain’t done by some margin. Get the other 4 first 22 boys in, have a reverse on last year for injuries, and the sky’s the limit.

Aaron vandenBerg looked like he was having fun out there today, crashing in to register eight tackles as he used his body as a battering ram to clear the path for teammates. Whilst less impactful, Alex Neal-Bullen started to find the footy as well. These two were sorely missed in 2019, and the Dees look a lot better with them in the team.

What's he talking about regarding Nibbler being "sorely missed" last year?

I’m surprised. To me hunt and Spargo are quite opposite. Spargo is a good ball user normally, reads the play well, and is a good footballer without the athletic abilities that AFL level demands. Hunt is a good mark, pace to burn, worst handballer in the side, poor field kick but decent kick for goal. For skills Spargo is miles ahead.

yeah, I think its important to note that Spargo has had an injury, so probably hasn't had as much game sim and ball work as others have, which likely contributed to him being a bit rusty yesterday.

I don't know what ANBs excuse was though.

The ball was well gone and Crouch’s intent was to go the man. He propped himself to launch upwards so in reality he had better momentum than an in-flight Oliver. The evidence is there for all to see. 
 

Should cop a week - no questions asked. 

I appreciate all the commenmts from those who saw the game. As a matter of interest, what was the split (if any) of Petracca's time on ball and up forward? And a related question (which may be resolved in the answer to my previous question), did Petracca kick his goals when he was playing midfield or when he was stationed in the forward line?
