Has anyone ever done the rising star/brownlow/norm Smith trifecta?

Preuss has worked his [censored] off and completely changed his body shape to give himself the absolute best shot at being a regular at senior AFL level.

How typical of our (MFC) luck does this sort of thing happen........

I know its not the end of our season, but seriously.... GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

MFCSS FCS

Seriously cursed.
Thanks Dr Don Duffy - the curse of Norm Smith raises its ugly head again.

8-10 for Pruess will mean he isnt right this year. probably look a million dollars 1st November for Pre-season.

I think he'll stay quite fit off legs for a while,  and then work hard doing a mini preseason...  maybe even another trip to the USA.?

I would If I was him, as he is dipping his toe,  into a widening pond below.

We’re about to find out.

Great. 2 Ruckman with dodgy knees

Marvellous news...

It is not a dodgy knee, it was an injury sustained at training, I thought he had been kicked in the leg, as there was a tangle of legs

You really do need to lighten up, it's footy, contact injuries happen

Luke Jackson  is not only going to be pushed into playing   as early as round 1, he could possibly be more involved in sharing the ruck responsibilities with Max assuming that Maxy might not be quite 100%.

As young as  Luke is, he   will have to grow up very quickly and I have the feeling that he will meet the challenge.

Hopefully Max is right to go by then.

Yes Max injured his knee at training. Now it is suspect

that is called a dodgy knee until it isn’t.

If we're talking the next couple of weeks then  a little tap work from Tyson Fury  plus odd chop out from Deontay Wilder should do the trick.

Well we drafted LJ and have the midseason draft to bring in a depth ruckmen if needed.

Not worried about this injury,   bad luck for Preuss though.

Just when I thought all hope was lost, my long-standing Sam Baulderstone campaign is given a fresh breath of life.

While right on the verge, Max Gawn was last year cruelly robbed of becoming the tallest ever AFL captain with the promotion of Jarrod Witts to co-lead that sham Gold Coast Sun franchise. Pruess's off-season slim-down has meanwhile seen him fall out of contention for the AFL's chunkiest player accolade.

Why not right these obvious wrongs by recruiting what would be the fattest ever human being to later play top-flight Australian football, a record unlikely to ever be eclipsed? Forget the supposedly feel-good story that is Bennell, preternaturally skilled beyond we couch-dwelling mortals with crushed MCG dreams - this would be literally huge.

Beyond that, there's also a decent football case to be made. Runner-up in the Redlegs best-and-fairest last year, ahead of all of Alex Georgiou, Lewis Johnstone, Dom Barry, Michael Talia and Mitch Grigg - all of who you may note were given their chance on an AFL list. Was also named as the SANFL's 22nd best player last season, after averaging a huge 37 hit-outs per game.

Seriously, big-bodied mature tap specialist who can genuinely kick and comes for free as a pres-season sup for a few games coverage.

8-10 weeks probably means the first 4 weeks of teh year.. its not ideal, but its not the end of the world. What we have to be clear of now is if Max isnt 100% for R1 then there is no way in hell he should play. Would love to win R1 but would rather not risk any kety players over in the west.

Use Brown, Use Weid, Use Petty if we have to.

Add Dunkley to the list. Just saw him in a moon boot. ?

Might explain that mystery.

Max is back running and in amazing nick.  will get a practice game or two in and dominate.

Pruess is not best 22 so unless Max gets injured again I see no major issue here. just lost  a back-up ruck for the first few rounds

I think Mick Nolan with a playing weight of 135 kg would give Sam a run for his money.

Maybe it’s years of disappointment we have endured but I have a sick feeling in my gut about this season and slowly but surely the injury list continues to grow.

Or the quadrella, throwing in the Coleman?

One ruck that ain’t a second ruck.  Preuss is so slow defensively, that he is a liability in the modern game.

Now returning from a knee mid-year, even the simpletons must doubt any impact in 2020.

Preuss is a first ruck or nothing.

Should have been traded out, injury or no injury.

Baulderstone at peak fatness weighed more than Langdon and Lockhart combined.

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?
