Might be a silly question, but seeing as Goschs is a public park, what's stopping him from going for a run there accidentally at the same time as our training sessions?

Insurance for one.  He won't be covered by the AFL's health and indemnity insurance until he's officially allowed to train in December.  That means any injury he sustains if he tries to train with the club prior to that is on Medicare.  I don't doubt that the club has already discussed his fitness program with him for the interim, but he can't do any official work with us until he's on the books.

I don't think he's running yet

except od, mr leg. he's not drinking enough malt whiskey or eating enough bananas

My god that is true DC. Had a little interruption to things and have not had a single malt in 10 weeks. Banana consumption is down as well.

I'd imagine even a smallish AFL club could cover any medical bill arising from training out of its own funds.  Surely he just needs to be given written instructions on what training to do elsewhere, memorise it, and then borrow the EFC shredder.

He's only just recently had surgery again so would think he wouldn't be doing much training now even if he could anyway.

There is likeable logic in this.

My cheque will be in return mail.

Will definitely be interesting to see what they have him doing his first day of training with the club. Good to hear he's got a positive attitude, one step at a time.

12 steps at a time maybe!

Harley’s in town. Currently sitting across from him in the corporate boxes at the basketball. He’s sitting in between May and Jetta.

Waters all round for those interested.

Hope that puts to bed the rumour that Bennell and May don’t get on.

Can definitely put that to bed. When not looking at their phones, the two of them have been chatting and laughing the whole game.

Had not heard that, I'm aware May and Martin don't get on but not May and Bennell

Yeah I wasn’t aware either but can confirm they are getting along like a house on fire.

I'm pretty sure Redleg has got them mixed up here.

I think someone may have mentioned here that Bennell is staying with May for a few weeks before he starts training with us. On his first day here he was hanging out with May.

There have been a few Insta stories with May and Bennell hanging out. Pretty sure they are pretty good mates

Hopefully they end up premiership mates.

Yes I have. That is my second mix up today.

I guess I shouldn’t be drinking so much on the cruise I am on.

Go your hardest Leg. It's not like you have to drive home. Bung on a life jacket if you get a bit wobbly !

On the waters untill Jetta goes home.

Good to see we've graduated from training the house down, to straight up burning them down.

Further to the point, what’s stopping any of US going and training with our favourite football team?

Drinking seems legit. But you probably shouldn't be Demonlanding so much if you're on a cruise.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
