Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Imagine being good at something you love and then it gets taken away from you because of concussion. Really heartbreaking for him. I hope the heroes that have had a crack at him take breath and go away.

I for one hope he just finds a place where he is happy and can function, footy should be secondary to quality of a life.

Would we have picked up Paddy if the Aints had taken Petracca?

Sliding doors perhaps.

Definately, he didn't know when he left to go to the draft if he was going to saints or mfc, close family members had both colours around houses, he found out approx. 30 minutes before the draft and made a few phone calls to take down mfc colours

Yes, Paul Roos has been on record to say that we would have picked up McCartin if Petracca had gone pick 1.

Hope some luck and good health comes ASAP to Paddy in other pursuits in life. Sad for Paddy Saints and footy as a whole.

Realistically he shouldn’t be looking to play footy for a long time, focus on getting his concussion issues right first.

Very sad, you wonder how he would’ve gone in the 80s and 90s, if he’d push through it and what the long term ramifications would be. There’s still so little they know about it all.

Given his current symptoms he should never play again. He has another 60 plus years of living. Why would you risk your future life and well being for a game of footy ?

Like playing Russian Roulette. It’s a case where Doctors and others should step in and say No, it is not worth the risk.

Lots of medical neurologists on this thread. Good to know.

Lots of opinions that you can seek Moon when you need your neurological assessment.

Very reassuring.

I wonder if there is a test for those with the condition Melbourne Supporter Syndrome?

The queue for treatment would stretch around the G several times Ernest.

For ECT treatment OD or heavy doses of mood elevating medication ?

Given a choice I think I would punt for the latter Ernest.

I have tried self medicating with single malt and that definitely has beneficial results.

Very honest but naive of Paddy to say on radio that he fudged his concussion tests.  AFL to investigate.  Paddy and Concussion

Big roll of the dice for his well being to fugde them at all.  He is a young guy desperate to play football.  Its not an excuse for his poor judgement but better advice on the importance of the tests was required.

The bloke was just so desperate to play footy, but very silly for him to do. I swear I thought he had a conversation with Gus at some stage, while I'm not saying Gus didn't do something similar at some stage I would hope that he was given some good strong advice to say you've got to put your health ahead of anything.

We handled Angus really well through the worst of it, whenever it started to flare up we pulled him out immediately. Nev as well, I wonder how the Saints medicos would feel thinking that they probably were trying to do the same thing only for him to almost be his own worst enemy.

This is, to use a much overused word, tragic for young Paddy.   Not just to lose a footy career, but for the lifelong issues that may develop.

As mentioned above, our often criticised medical staff have handled Angus and Nev's concussion issues with care and patience.  Certainly better that in an earlier era, Daniel Bell.

I really look forward to hearing, for better or for worse, how KK is headed.  Hopefully our medicos have kept him at a low profile as part of his recovery process, as well as respecting his privacy.   Hope all turns out well.

Billy Brownless spoke of how he went out to dinner with Paddy and his daughter; he said Paddy forgot where he was and when they were leaving he walked stragiht into the door.

Brownless said it was hard to watch, to see how bad he was, he seemed very concered for Paddy.

Wish him all the best and maybe one day he be able to have another shot of playing AFL?

But it can be worked out. With the right people around me things are getting better. Not perfect, and they probably won't ever be, but at least I know that it is not me, but rather me just not processing things the right way, and that means I can take a breath and let whatever it is wash over me.

Best of it all Paddy. The game is really a very minor thing in life

Gee rotten accident, being in wrong place at wrong time whatever, but what a refreshing and revealing post.

Glad to know you even though remotely and wishing you all the best.

If you ever felt like you needed and could handle a retreat in Beechworth feel free to reach out. My friend has a cottage in the centre of town which you can access via airbnb Lockwood cottage. It's cheap but may be able to secure a demonland discount.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
