I'm happy to put my hand up.  2 year deal, minimum wage (I'm happy to take a hit on what I'm on now).  A couple of years of free tracksuits, dieticians, personal trainers, and any free goodies that some of the stars are happy to throw my way.  I won't even request a trade at the end of next season or the one after.  Also happy to put up with 2 years of fan criticism on Demonland.

Just call me the modern day Lucas Cook.

Sounds good to me Lucas. Can you put up your highlights tape so we can get an early start on hanging [censored] on you ?

Frosty! Would be the blindside of the decade!

I feel like a developing mature tall that plays forward or back.

I want to know who we're going to target with the all important Pick 97.

Demonland aka One who is never afraid to ask the hard question.

If only one of our many former Jacks was available.......

Will be used to upgrade one of the rookies, Lockhart or Dunkley maybe? Opens up another spot on the rookie list while keeping a very low paid player on the senior list - no real difference between the rookie and senior list now anyway but if we go to the draft with 3 & 8 we need to use that pick.

I concur

The best state league key position forward is the only way to go. Find a Podsiadly type that can come and play a role for a few years.

Not the worst idea poita

I guess it will be more like pick 70.  Most other clubs will be passing by then.  I suspect it will be a Dunkley or Lockhart upgrade to close out our deal.  We can then take DFA’s (Bennell, Buzza?) and Rookies as we move forward.

Let’s split it. Two picks in the 100’s.....the possibilities are unreal.

There we ggo problem solved?

Rookie upgrades no longer require a draft pick number.

Rookies are upgraded prior to the draft and I believe each upgrade acts as a draft pick (without the number attached)

At least,  that's what happened last year so I'm assuming that's how they do it now.

So unless we trade picks 3 & 8 ... it will probably be rookie upgrade,  pick 3 and then pick 8.  And we'll possibly make a bid on Tom Green at pick 3.

Most clubs pass on picks that late. Maybe no-one or as mentioned the rookie upgrade. Lots of space on the rookie list now.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons return to the MCG wounded, undermanned and desperate. Still searching for their first win of the season, Melbourne faces a daunting task against the Fremantle Dockers. With key pillars missing at both ends of the ground, the Dees must find a way to rise above the adversity and ignite their season before it slips way beyond reach. Will today be the spark that turns it all around, or are we staring down the barrel of a 0–6 start?

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

A month is a long time in AFL football. The proof of this is in the current state of the two teams contesting against each other early this Saturday afternoon at the MCG. It’s hard to fathom that when Melbourne and Fremantle kicked off the 2025 season, the former looked like being a major player in this year’s competition after it came close to beating one of the favourites in the GWS Giants while the latter was smashed by Geelong to the tune of 78 points and looked like rubbish. Fast forward to today and the Demons are low on confidence and appear panic stricken as their winless streak heads towards an even half dozen and pressure mounts on the coach and team leadership.  Meanwhile, the Dockers have recovered their composure and now sit in the top eight. They are definitely on the up and up and look most likely winners this weekend against a team which they have recently dominated and which struggles to find enough passages to the goals to trouble the scorers. And with that, Fremantle will head to the MCG, feeling very good about itself after demolishing Richmond in the Barossa Valley with Josh Treacy coming off a six goal haul and facing up to a Melbourne defence already without Jake Lever and a shaky Steven May needing to pass a fitness test just to make it onto the field of play.
