The Demons had high hopes for the former first round draftee from the Gold Coast Suns but a return of his concussion worries limited him to only two games at AFL level.

Date of Birth: 9 August, 1995

Height: 190 cm

Weight: 86 kg

Games MFC 2019: 2

Career Total: 80

Goals MFC 2019: 1

Career Total: 14

CDFC Games 2019: 3

CDFC Goals 2019: 2

Who?? Does this guy play for the Dees?

The winger you have when you dont have a winger.

Hope he recovers and has a great pre-season Love to see him play next year.

Considering the club went out to trade in another best 22 wingers doesn’t fill me with confidence about how they rate his chances of recovery.

I hope I’m wrong for Kade’s sake.

i can't believe he has a 3 year contract. Did we do any due diligence, or did we just stick a contract under his nose? Surely the fact that GC17 basically threw him at us should have been a massive red flag.

I would love nothing more than to see him fit and well and playing good football next year, but I can't see it happening. A settlement prior to the draft would be a good result for all parties.

Ridiculous isn’t it.

3 years to someone with Concussion history

Last Summer was very loose. We paid for it Big Time

Anything from GC is a red flag!  May another and he was a captain.

I think the decision will be made prior to the mid year draft. Wonder if it will be the same for AVB and J Smith.

No way can a club carry three very long term injuries. The flip side is that it denies three VFL players a chance at the big time.

This is one of those 'high risk, high reward' trades that some people complain we never do.

If it comes off, we've gained a gun player as the steak knives in the May trade.

If it doesn't, people criticise the risky trade and bemoan us not taking a safer route.

I really liked him in his first couple of seasons but looked a mile off that in the games he played this year. Lacked the intensity to compete.

Still hope he can return to his early form and become a handy half back or wingman which we need but realistically it is unlikely.

I reckon he plays his best footy across half back. The small times that he played wing this year he just looked completely lost. With Hibbered cooked, I would like to see him go back to half back and utilise his kicking skills.

dazzle - presumably you watched him in previous seasons, which I didn't.

As a half back is he accountable, as well as being a good kick?

when he debuted for gc17 he looked like an absolute gun in the making

unfortunately concussions have absolutely robbed him of not just his development but seemingly his drive

it's extremely disappointing that he doesn't seem to be recovering as we expected him to do, and there's little doubt his career is in trouble; here's hoping he's able to recover

Plays the quarter back role perfectly fine.. ability to defend first but also peel off to provide run and his kicking skill to am advantage.

Thanks

Hope that was essentially one year off allows him, as it did with Nev, to make a full recovery and return to his best.

Bluntest set of steak knives in history......

Could still be something with a good pre season

If the injury plagued 2019 list comes good - Smith, Vandenberg, Mr Kolo, Jetta, Lever, May, Tom Mac, Weidemann, Hannan,Melksham, Sparrow, Nietzsche, OMac - watch out 2020.

In Germany vee vood say, vee vill be somezing.

Has anyone with an ear close to the ground heard anything at all about Kade's progress / prognosis / plans?

This is the reason i clicked onto this thread, im hoping someone who ACTUALLY KNOWS something can give us an insight....

how severe are the symptoms? Do we have any time frame? was he doing any contact work towards the end of the year or was he just working on fitness or nothing at all? is that bad that he has been written off?

Look at paddy mccartins case, this is no joke so people questioning his drive and commitment with out knowing are idiotic.

As for calling him stake knives and a waste.... do you remember when he actually nominated this club? For me it was finally a time where we where beginning to become some what of a destination club, also people that know more about him know he is a very talented player so 300k a year really isnt surprising....

I don't think anyone is questioning his talent, more his ability to get on the park. It's fairly common knowledge Gold Coast wanted him off the list and that we were happy to take him on, possibly given how Brayshaw came out the other side of his concussion issues.

There was an article on the MFC site recently saying he intended doing a full preseason, so he may be back to full fitness. Whether or not he plays again is another thing, but I'm pretty sure everyone wishes him well and to be back on the park.

GC didn't offer him a contract, I wouldn't say GC rejects nominating us makes us a destination club.

There are 3 ways you can pay overs for an existing afl player

1) give away too many or to valuable draft picks

2) pay the player too highly and jeopardise your salary cap

3) offer a longer contract to the player

I think it is clever list management to get players in without breaching 1 & 2 and just give them an extra year on their contract. You basically give away nothing and potentially bring in a talent. If it doesn’t work out so be it but there is the real chance of bringing in talent for nothing.

KK could still well work out. Might even be in his 3rd year...

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
